Insurance question

Am i the only one who never got any special insurance for pov use...? I pay like 450 bucks a year. In fact I actually forget what youre supposed to have. All i know is I humored myself one day by seeking a quote from whoever the union recommended and it was outrageous and then they pestered me for months trying to get me to sign up. No effin way.

Just make sure you insurance carrier knows you use vehicle to deliver mail. If there is no exclusion on your policy for while you are delivering and you have an at fault accident is where the problems come. If there is no exclusion the PO will deny the TORT claim and say you have private insurance. In the end they will be responsible but it puts you in a very tough situation until it is worked out. Your insurance will not pay, the PO will not pay and this all leaves you holding the bag which at times takes legal action. So be sure your carrier is aware and has you covered properly.

I never told my insurance company that I used my own vehicle, however, that was a not bright move on my part 😃, luckily, I never had an accident ! And, never will 😊 !

GEICO my current carrier after 17 years of driving for the post office in my personal vehicle they have dropped me. I am realising and remembering when I first started trying to find insurance to do this job anyone have any suggestions? The insurance company through the NRLCA is outrageous.
I retired after forty years and when I was working as a rural carrier, I told the insurance company how many miles I drove to work and back and that’s all I told them. I had one wreck on my route that wasn’t my fault and had no problem with my insurance. Now I’m not telling you to do that, but if you have an accident they don’t know if you were working or on your own time.

I had Alfa on my mail Jeep for over 30 years. They knew it was a postal vehicle when I bought it. We made sure. They assured us it was covered. This year my fellow carrier had an accident and Alfa denied the claim because they said they don’t insure commercial vehicles anymore. We were not informed. They just changed the wording on the policy to say pleasure vehicle. You have to keep a check on your policy. My former sub said her company would change the wording on hers as well. I am with the NRLCA affiliate and got better coverage for just a little more
