Locked Boxes and Gates?

I don't go through closed gates, take keys or access codes. Don't do it. You won't get paid.

We do not carry keys for customer owned boxes nor for their private gates. That is regulations.
We also do not use gate codes. We cannot be responsible for anything that happens inside those gates & you’d be the first to get blamed for it. That also goes for mailbox keys... you do not want to be responsible for anything missing.

- POM, Section 632.527 - Locks - inpart: The Postal Service does not allow carriers to open locked boxes and does not accept keys for this purpose.
- DMM, Section 508.3.2.2 -- Locked Box - in part: The USPS neither opens a locked box nor accepts a key for this purpose.

-- Then ask the BIG question: "How are you going to pay me for this new tasking?"
-- That question usually ends whatever new task manglement wants you to do.

What language from the M-38 do you use to avoid these driveways? I have a one lane (shared by 12 customers) driveway that I believe to be unsafe, but they keep trying to make me deliver on it.

It's on the knowledge base, page 42 of the m38 or section 400 roads. As long as one box per mile, service should be extended. All 12 need to have a 4027 on file. Let the postal service deny service, then you don't come off as the jerk carrier who doesn't want to do their job.
To be transparent: I've spent this winter preparing my case. Bouncing ideas around here. I want a rock solid case that the NRLCA can't sweep under the rug. We are getting robbed, and we have every right to get paid those miles of service we provide for free.
