I’m currently an ARC, but recently interviewed for and have been offered an RCA position in a small office-(3 rural routes)- I also just received an email to interview for an RCA position in a much larger office. My plan is to accept the current offer, attend the RCA orientation/training, and start working but still interview for the position in the larger office and if offered the position resign from the smaller office. Can I do that? Am I required to inform either PM of my plans?

Why not tell the current offering PM that you just got offered an RCA position at another office that you would rather take? I don't think they would mind sending you over to that office if that is what you want.

O Snap -- Congratulations -- one of the first ARC's to post here.

-- Assuming that you have taken a test for an RCA position as there supposedly is no opportunity to convert to RCA from the ARC ranks.

-- Might as well take the high road and keep both post master appraised of your plans.

-- To be on the safe side, ask questions at the first post office. If hired there, you are probably off the hiring rolls, so if you start working at the smaller post office, then resign, you may have to retest to get back on the hiring rolls. Anyone???

-- Otherwise you will have to complete the probationary period as an RCA ( 90 work days or 1 calendar year ) in the smaller post office before submitting a written request to transfer to another post office.

-- And to do that, there must be an RCA vacancy at the office you want to transfer to.

-- Since the probationary period is the same for ARC's as well as RCA's, don't know if you'd have another probationary period as an RCA. Can manglement waive the RCA probationary period? Anyone??

-- Your background -- what have you done as an ARC? Cased and carried a route? Just assisted with parcels? Or...

Thank you for the congrats! Yes I’ve already tested and I dont believe there is a probationary period for ARC- when I originally applied I had no idea what ARC, CCA, RCA etc... even meant. I got a phone call explaining ARC’s are only Sunday’s & Holidays and I basically said sure I’ll take that (for now) I was informed it was not in any way a path towards RCA or CCA and if that was my preference to keep applying (which I’ve continued to do) When I accepted the recent offer for RCA I was required to relinquish my ARC position due to being assigned to a 3rd office (so I can be reassigned to the new one) however I have been told I will be able to continue my ARC duties at #3 since the smaller office doesn’t currently do Amazon Sundays. As an ARC I’ve done nothing except deliver amazon packages- orientation consisted of reading a ARC handbook then 1 day classroom slideshow training (which had nothing to do with Package deliveries) and a 1/2 day LLV course. I rode along my first Sunday and been on my own since then-I wasn’t aware of transferring or open vacancies- I have just been applying when I see positions posted on internet job sites. As of right now I have 1 applicant entry, 2 pre-hire list and 2 offer ext. showing on the various positions I’ve applied for as I didnt think it cross referenced anything since background investigation approval, drug tests etc... have been requested for each (even though all of this is within the last 90 calendar days)  I continue to submit what is asked and wait to find out where to go and what to do basically-
