Over Eval a cause for dismissal?

So I was just called into my office. Apparently District thinks RCAs that go over Eval should be terminated/gotten rid of. This isn't really an issue in my office, but I requested to see the email in question and was told i had no business seeing the email. First off I think when regulars keep taking the 'heavy' days off and leaving tons of mail for the subs of course they're going to post higher times. But the thing that bugs me is I'm not even allowed to see this communication from District that  makes this policy. It sounds like a lot of hot air, even so, if it is for real i want to be able to obtain a copy so I can show Regulars why the RCAs can't take all of the mail, now that their job is under threat for doing too much. The whole thing stinks, what do you all think?

I just received my "come to my office, verbal notice of unsatisfactory performance" also.  Make a phone call to your district office and speak to your district rep.  Ask if they have a union RCA retention coordinator in your district.  No, I don't have my 90.  I don't "need" the job, I "want" the job.  At my age, I don't want, or need the BS.  Apparently, this BS is being started from somewhere outside the local office.

yeah, I was on my way to call my District Steward for other reasons. He says it holds no weight. It seems to be District blowing hot air because they can't figure out any other ways to save time outside beating up on rural subs.

When I first started I was given a hard time about never meeting my evaluated times and here I am, almost 1 year later. I think management tries to scare us into working faster but every time I got talked to about it I would work even slower out of spite. I almost never meet my evaluated time and I would love to be one of the first ones back but I know it's just not going to happen. I work at a steady pace but I can't rush or I make mistakes. As long as I make it back before the mail truck then I've had a good day.

They are going to encourage RCA's to do inappropiate things to make evaluation; which include throwing away mail.

They're basically saying do anything you have to and when the PI's show up on the doorstep; they will be slack jawed.

Threating, harassment, intimidation; yeah that's the ticket to getting employees to go faster.

What a dumbass entity we work for.

I hear that across the country the are paying ridiculous amounts of OT to RCAs. Of course this is due to highly manipulated counts (getting 100 parcels/week during count and then going up to about 90/day or about 540/week). They are just cracking the whip to try to save a few cents. If they can do that and get you to get done 5 minutes faster or falsify time sheets then they'll save $$$ all around the country.

Whaat?...

The two regulars in our office go over evaluation multiple times in a week. No disciplinary action has been taken by the PM or District, nor any attempt to file for "overburden route".

Slightly off topic. How do "H Routes" work for Regulars with a RCA sub? Does the 12hr/day rule affect 2080?

--  How long have you been an RCA?

--  Have you completed your probationary period of 90-work days or 1 year, which ever occurs first )?

--  If still in your probationary period, District may get away with it as manglement can fire RCA's for just about any little reason.

--  Get a hold of your Assistant District Representative regarding District's idea of terminating RCA's who go over evaluation.  ( IMHO -- that is BS )

--  Hopefully your ADR kept a copy of the Postmaster General's edict in the fall of 2015 ( I believe ) that "<strong>RCA's are to be kept at all costs</strong>."

--  Could be the PMG has changed her mind about that, but if she has, she hasn't put anything in print about the change.

--  Keep plugging away.

2. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE AND THE NATIONAL RURAL LETTER CARRIERS’ ASSOCIATION

The parties recognize the existing evaluated system of compensation to be a fair, reasonable, and equitable method of payment. <strong>The parties further recognize that the evaluated system is comprised of elemental standards which may not in every instance be adequate for an individual carrier</strong>; nevertheless, the parties agree that the standards, when examined collectively, represent a fair day’s pay for rural carriers.

For Regular carriers, we only have the weekly evaluation to deal with. Mgmt would love to hold us to the daily but they cannot. A route is classified as 'overburdened' if it's over 46K or the Reg can't make eval for the week consistently. It's not un

H routes are the same as any other route except for NO relief days. A sub would only work for the Reg when the Reg asks off or calls in.

2080 is the total hours a Regular carrier has available to work in 1 year without being paid OT. If the Regular goes over those hours, the PO must go back & pay OT for those hours. Any OT pay like working your relief day does not count towards 2080. Go over 2240 for the year & all hours count.
