Parcel delivery to house

Forgive my ignorance (this will be the first mail-count I've 'studied' for) but is there any dismount credit/is there a two week average of extra dismounts?

(total/WKS) x .333 office time
(total/WKS) x .167 route time

Thank you, I'm getting anxious about the count and want to make sure i'm well informed. We are a small office, I have questions but I think the closest mail count meeting will be almost 2hrs away and I'm not sure I would be able to attend. The other 2 regular carriers; 1 hasn't done mail count for a few years, the other has never, only been full time 2 years and I don't think either is very interested in studying up on it, just do whatever the boss says to do. I've been used and abused as an RCA long enough to know that's not a good plan.

I have never understood why rca's assume a regular will know more about a mail count. It's not magically infused into you after you become career. It's a process of going to mail count seminars and reading the mailcount manual along with any supporting documentation for tasks/unusual events.

Yes, this will define the regulars weekly pay evaluation and whether they have a day off included.

But, more importantly, this will also affect the daily rate of pay for any RCA working on the route in the future. It will also be the reason you are possibly sitting home, looking for work because the route lost a relief day. No one is ever going to be as interested in your take home pay as you!!!!!

Step up and don't assume someone else is going to look out for you. They are looking out for themselves. And sadly, some can't be bothered to watch their own paycheck.

20ANK17 -- "is there any dismount credit"

-- Sure there is. Column 19 - Authorized Dismount Distance ( page 30 of the 2018 Mail Count Guide )

1. Enter the authorized dismount distance ( in feet ) traveled daily by the carrier. In part -- distance and dismounts may vary daily. Also multiple trips may be needed on some days, such as for a school or business. Report the number of trips to the counter and note them on the 4240. And double check the number of trips and days they were made when going over the count number during the 3-day period to do so.

-- Arbitrator Clarke's award established the Credit for walking speed at 0.00429 minutes per foot. ( speed times distance = credit ( in minutes )

-- The office HAS to conduct a pre-count meeting -- must be concluded by close of business on 8 February 2018. Make your list of questions before the meeting. Supposedly once the office pre-count meeting is over, operational change can not ( should not ) be made -- unless discussed at the office meeting.

-- Those times you listed are just for parcel credit. Dismount Distance credit is a different category.

-- As a heads up there are different credits for DPS Letters and DPS Flats when using an LLV or POV. Make sure manglement is using the correct line for your situation.

Column 19 "dismount credit" is for locations on the "Line of Travel" that require you to exit the vehicle like school deliveries, CBUs stops, built-in pickup locations, and hardships. Parcel delivery to the door does NOT get a "dismount credit" as it is built-in in the 30-second parcel credit (Ha, ha).
