So postmaster told me today my route that was formerly a 44 hr H route is being changed to a 41 hr J route. She also said I would be changing from a step 1 to a step D5. I have absolutely no clue what that means for my pay. Does anyone have a guess?

You stated in your other post that the adjustment is back dated to start in July. You should've had some Saturdays off with a J route.
Since you worked those Saturdays, you will be paid overtime. Those days will be paid at DACA 5. 150% pay. i think that's what your PM meant by D5. Your step will not change.
ps.- the difference in pay for July will not be significant.
First, did anything change on your route to merit the adjustment?
Second, are you a regular or rca?
Third, if regular - how long in career status?
Fourth, please open the contract and look up your pay steps. I haven't looked in a while but, we don't have a step D. That sounds like high and low city pay. Please be certain your route hasn't been converted to city. Or check liteblue for form 50.

I made regular last year. I added a bunch of boxes to justify the change. I had 13 years as a RCA.
She told me that I would be paid overtime for the month of July and it would be back dated. Then starting in August it would be adjusted. I have no clue what the D5 means she was talking about. It went from a 44 H to a 41 J. It's around 56 miles.

-- First of all, the other 3 unions ( hourly, by the way ) have a Step "D" on their ( complicated ) pay schedules. The Rurals just have A, B, and C, then 1 through 12 on Table ONE.

-- Have you gotten a new Form 50 lately?

-- Sorry to say, those 13 years as an RCA don't count for much aside from experience. That being said, were you a Part Time Flexible carrier ( designation 76 ) during those 13 years as an RCA?

-- 44H to a 41J sounds as if someone was asleep at the switch. Did the previous regular have the route under the High Option? If so, making regular last year means you are ineligible to have a High Option route -- need 10 years as a regular, thanks to arbitrator Clarke's 2010-2015 award. Thus the change form a 44H to a 41J.

-- 56 miles -- has any mileage been added to the route since you took it?

-- With a hire date of 2007, that puts you on TABLE ONE.

-- Starting at Step 1 On TABLE ONE is a BIG jump over Steps A, B, and C!!

"I have absolutely no clue what that means for my pay."

-- Just going from a 44 hour route to a 41 hour route means a pay cut of about $5.500!!

- TABLE ONE as of 29 FEB 2020 -- Step A, for example:

44 hour route = 55,985

41 hour route = 50,482

" Then starting in August it would be adjusted. "

-- What will be adjusted in August? The route or your pay?

-- A new PM who is used to working with city carriers?

-- D5 = DACA 5 -- of course! Maybe!

-- Outraged:

- When did you become a regular carrier?
- Did you sign up for the Relief Day Work List in late September 2019 or in late April 2020?

-- If not on the RDWL, not eligible for DACA 5. But since the PM does the pay entries, getting creative in getting you DACA 5.

-- That way the PM doesn't have to worry about getting you an X-Day.

I was on a aux route that was converted to a H route. I added a bunch of new boxes in the last couple months and this is what prompted the change. I was told that for the month of July they were paying me overtime backdated to the 1st. The boxes were added last month. I have a road that i could give to another regular. If I was able to do that, it would bring me back to a H route at the higher rate.
Hopefully the PM goes for it. She is a fairly new

I have been a regular carrier for 18 months. I was a H route so I never got signed up for a relief day. To be honest, I really liked my H route. I didn't want this change at all. I loved working 6 days a week. I asked her if I could give up one of my roads back to another carrier, who gave them to me when they converted my route from a aux route to H route, just to get back to the 6 day route. Is there anything i can do to prevent this upcoming change?

Our routes can be converted to city?...I didn't know that...
