Posting of PTF assignments

Hello everyone first post! We have a PTF carrier getting full time, management plans on posting the ptf assignment again. We have 4 ptf positions in my office, now my question is does management post the PTF assignment only that was vacated by the ptf making regular, or does management post all 4 again incase just like us regulars one of the ptf's would like the vacated assignments. Thanks ahead for your responses I greatly appreciate it.

I'm not certain but I believe they are all "posted" like a Regular route is but a PTF on a string they like shouldn't HAVE to bid. What I can say is that your PM will have to get the PTF string re-approved once it is vacated. Everytime a PTF moves to Regular, that vacated position has to be approved by district to be bid for.

They are not required to repost PTF positions but as far as I have seen they almost always do. PTFs are only required to be assigned to 2 K routes but can be assigned more and can work other routes outside the string assigned to them. When one route goes up for bid the PTF with the highest seniority(as career) will get the route assuming they bid. If the office has only one PTF or has multiple routes go up with multiple PTFs they are required to take whatever routes opens up. RCAs in offices with PTFs cant get routes until all the PTFs are converted to regular.

PTF seniority is based on how long you have been a career employee or if multiple PTFs are made from the same date/listing its based on previous RCA seniority.

To your question. The PTF position is an assigned position that is it has a specific PTF assignment number to it. When they repost the position they are reposting the vacated PTF position(number) and typically you will work the same routes that position held. Sometimes RCAs will bid on the vacated PTFs routes before the position is put up for bid and management can change the PTFs assignments then. As a PTF you dont get to pick what routes you are assigned to. If you work in an APO the PTF position is usually assigned to an office and will have a description of what office/location its in. Depending on your hire date you might take a paycut when going PTF. If you were hired between the end of 2010(table one regular date) and the end of 2012(table one RCA date) your pay will drop around 3 dollars an hour. We have had multi RCAs go PTF and get the paycut.

My office has 12 PTFs and around 40 RCAs.
