question about RCA position with benefits

I forget the title of the position but basically from my understanding it's an RCA position with all the benefits. I work in a smaller office but a much larger office I work in after I complete my aux route have been granted 4 of these positions. Supervisor told me today to apply for it. I'll look at the paper tomorrow but was wondering if anyone knew what I am speaking about and more details if possible. I was going to look it up online but obviously as I stated I forgot the title of the position.

You are looking for PTF. ?

Go look it up, then let us know if you still need questions answered.I will say this: APPLY! If you are a PTF, you get the next regular route when it comes up.

This may be late, but I'd say start by going to the USPS jobs website. Of course, I don't have that link, but think its pretty easy to find. You can break it down by state, then find the town. That should have some the job/title, etc posted.

mariomail -- As "Oi veh" posted, sounds like you are referring to the PTF ( Part-time Flexible ) position.

-- Page 3 of the contract -- it is a career position.

-- Earn annual leave and sick leave.

-- Look at the bottom of Table ONE and TWO of the pay schedules. PTF's have their own hourly wage and step increases.

-- Do a word search for "part-time flexible" on the contract to see where one may be utilized other than assigned K-routes.

-- From the contract: In no instance will a part-time flexible rural carrier have the right to refuse conversion to regular carrier. However - comma - if all 4 PTF positions are filled, the senior PTF will get the next vacant route. Or will have first choice if more than one regular route opens up.

"I work in a smaller office but a much larger office I work in after I complete my aux route have been granted 4 of these positions."

-- Sounds like you are in an APO / RMPO office.

-- PTF assignments must be posted for all substitutes and RCA's in THE office that have completed their probationary period. ( Not having dealt with APO/RMPO situations, I guess that applies to the RMPO offices too. -- Anyone?? )

Thanks for the help. I do have some questions if anyone could answer before I ask a super tomorrow. The larger office I speak of is really terrible (I don't think it's terrible to work in but anyone you ask in the area thinks so, the reputation it carries) but they can't keep help, too much work, not enough LLVs, management is questionable, etc etc ... I'm sure anyone here knows what I speak of.I have 3 years in the post office and no one in the other office is close to that. either they are still in 90 period or a couple might have a year. From my understanding if I transferred I go to the bottom of the list. If I was hired (some how) as PTF would that place me above the RCA right off the bat? They are creating 3-4 routes very shortly. Mail count allowed many routes to be cut in that office. I think some routes are actually vacant as well. It's hard to figure out what to do because I feel if I ask my PM he might and might not tell me the truth because he likes me very much and plans to train me in other areas when I become career. Might not tell the truth to keep me in his office. The other office may say yes to everything until I am their employee then the tune changes. So would I be above the other RCAs as a PTF?Would I be considered the bottom PTF because I came from out of the office?I currently have health insurance, dental, sick and annual leave with the PO in my current position but like the idea of having retirement and stuff start now rather than wait until I'm career. I'm gonna look at the pay scale bc I'm curious about that. Any other info would be helpful.
