RCA driving to other office, mileage reimbursement?

mail-liam

RCA here in rural area. I live a block away from my post office that I sub at. I was asked to work at another office 35 miles away for 4 days so I said yes. With the new contract am I entitled to any mileage reimbursement since I commuting 70 miles round trip? Ive asked before for when helping at this other office and PM said I wasn't entitled to it. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I *think* this is at the regular government mileage reimbursement rate (50 some cents a mile), not the EMA rate (70 some cents a mile). If you get the cash, I'd be curious to know which rate you get.

Do RCAs get mileage for travelling within a cluster (i.e. from an APO to an RMPO)? The section from the new contract says:
The parties agree when leave replacements are required to travel to a temporary duty station that is within local travel distance of their permanent duty station, there is an entitlement to mileage reimbursement. In accordance with Handbook F-15, section 7-1.1.1, the mileage will be reimbursed for any mileage that exceeds the distance between home and the permanent duty station. If the mileage is less than that between home and the permanent duty station, mileage reimbursement cannot be claimed.
So I *think*, as long as the mileage is greater, that is a yes for cluster mileage, right?

The IRS mileage rate of 58 cents per mile. Not the EMA rate.

1164E is the form.

I forgot to mention this is a RMPO that is a branch of the APO so same postmaster. I just read a grievance from last year which said "If you travel between branches and stations of your main office including RMPOS of the same APO you are not entitled to claim mileage reimbursement."
With the new contract just wasn't sure if anything changed regarding that. Thank you for all that replied.

FYI I travel to another office about 30 miles from my home office and the last OIC was paying me EMA rate. I thought she made a mistake but she assured me the Post Office does not over pay us ?

You get pay for mileage over the amount of miles to your normal work place from your home, where ever you go. If you drove those miles before ask for pay for them now. Your pm CAN still pay you for them.
