If you dont work for awhile, do they catch up your premiums when you do work? It seems like a decent deal, from what I have read. Thinking about replacing my full time job insurance with the post office insurance. PO is a little cheaper. Thanks for any input.

I am not sure. This cheaper offer made to RCA'S in this contract is all new to us REGS, RCA'S and how it works. FYI the open season is now and ends sometime later this month. You might want to call HR at 877 477 3273 for your questions on what this insurance covers, and your out of pocket cost is based on your situation.

I will do that. I think I will call my union rep also and see if he has any info. What little info I have read it seems you only pay when you work and they pick it up the rest of the time. I can't hardly believe that is how it works. That would be a neck of a deal, as I don't work but maybe average one or two days a month for the year. Thanks.

Depends on what you mean by don't work for a while. I'm a RCA and had the insurance since it was first offered. Here's how it works. If you don't have enough in your wages for a pay period to cover the whole premium amount, they will do an adjustment in the next pay period to cover the missed premium, if funds are available. If you miss 2 pay periods they will send you an invoice to pay the premiums for 2 periods. If you don't pay the premiums than your insurance is canceled. I had a hip replacement the first part of the year and was off for 3 months. I would receive an invoice and so would the PM tell them that there was premiums due. Example, if you was off for the whole month of September. You would receive an invoice in October for the 2 pay periods in Sept. It was usually due towards the end of the month, but the problem is there slow on posting it, best to get it in ASAP.
