RCA Health Plan $ !

Perusing the upcoming compensation figures upon the Lite Blue -- the take out for the health plan has gone up by five bucks a week !  The system givith' (the recent COLA) and takteth' away.  A year back it went from $ 35 per pay period to $ 40 per pay period - upcoming is $ 50.  The increase will be the cost of the weekly Amazon Sunday Bagel treat !

Seriously - do not recall getting notice of this change -- somewhat busy with seasonal overtime and all !  Lack of communication is most irritating ! Have gotten a card or two extolling the 'extraordinary' virtues of the plan and sign up period.   -- I'd like to know if the employer (that would be the Postal Service) is also kicking in an equal or greater amount on their end of this benefit as well.

Yes they sent out cards as I recall. Don't remember if it was on the card or on lite blue but they did inform us of the increase.

To me it is a very small amount for the coverage I get.

A few years back we (RCA's) couldn't even get coverage through the PO and I had to pay right at $800/ mo. for just myself through Blue Cross.

I have found this (USPS) coverage to be equal to or better than the coverage I had with Blue Cross and I am saving $700/mo. with the PO.

What is really crazy is that if you do some reading you'll find out that if you were a CCA for 2 years, you pay only a third of what an RCA does for a family plan. It's also the same plan. CCA's get a cheaper rate after a year and we get no breaks. I can't afford to insure my family through work. I'm just glad I can get any coverage for $50. Yeah it was better at $40 and no they didn't send any literature about the increase, it was all on liteblue though.

I saw that CCA difference on the cards that they sent out and thought how stupid are they to show me this difference! I was so pissed off, an increase from $410/month to $550 when the CCA family was like $220 or something. Just another example of an inept union and a company that doesn't care about you as an employee, how is it fair? Don't get me wrong, after 20 years of this crap I am glad that Obamacare has forced the post office to provide me insurance but come on. I am evaluated at 41 hours per week and work 6 days per week, what part of this is part-time?
