Rca sub 90 day grace period

There is no length of time before a pm can work you on another route, but you are to be trained on that other route,or your time there is paid in actual hours if more hours than the evaluation are used. Some pm will use RCAs on routes at this time (Christmas) giving parcel help and call that "training" which I haven't ever seen grieved but I think could be. Since there is nothing saying an RCA has to "train" (on their primary route) for a certain period of time before being required to work additional routes we won't find anything in writing. It is common practice by pm's to allow new hires time to become proficient on their primary route before giving them additional duties, but at Christmas time every person is needed to get the job done. What problem are you finding with the length of time the pm is using before putting the RCA on another route? If your problem is that the pm thinks the RCA just isn't good enough to be placed on another route, that is his choice. All RCA's are expected to pick up to three routes that they will be used on the office matrix after they are proficient on their primary. Can you give us any more on the problem you are having?

Perryr22 -- "How long does a rca sub have to work before they are put on another route. And were is it in black and white."

--  Don't expect to find everything in black and white.

--  Step 4 ( T-9.700 ) has the following:

a.  Management is not required to train and utilize a replacement employee on more than one route.

b.  Management can not require a replacement employee to be trained and utilized on more than three regular routes.

c.  Management must train the replacement employee who has been trained on less then three routes before training and utilizing a replacement employee on more than three routes.

So to answer your question, manglement might never put an RCA on another route.   It certainly would be unwise, but manglement has the right to mis-manage and uses it at every opportunity.

First, it's not in black and white anywhere.  You're a RCA.  You're a sub.  You're bottom of the barrel.  Everything a regular does wrong, and you yourself also, will be blamed on you!!  Accept your fate.

However, it's Xmas time, everything goes out the window. You're going to be sent on routes you've never done; you're going to be called in at 9 in the morning to case and deliver a route you've never done, and BTW you better be back by 5; you're going to be called in to do 'parcel runs' at 5 a.m. on your day off after doing 4 13-hour days in a row.

Black and white doesn't apply to RCAs; we're just an afterthought.

However (big however) since you've been on this site since April of this year, which means you've worked for the po since then, and you're still not getting called in to run other routes, I would start thinking of another job prospect; they're just keeping you on til after the holidays.  Nine months is a long time 'learn a primary'.

Here's hoping you have your 90 days in.

Good luck.

When I first started I did my 3 days of training and then the 4th day I was scheduled on a new route. I was supposed to run the whole route without help... Our office never actually trains people on a route they just get hourly pay the first time on it.
