RCA union failure

As I was driving the 40 extra minutes to the next county over, (being forced in again,) I was thinking its really screwed up that we are not paid our extra time being required to to do this. I took a job close to home so I could spend more time with my family, not commuting. But here I am, driving along not being paid for something they are making me do. Don't even get me started on how hard it is to actually get paid the mileage we are supposed to get. At the beginning of the year, these two counties had 10 subs for 12 routes. Now its just me and one other guy, and its getting close to just being him. The union sucks.

Are you commuting to another office? The one time I have been sent to another office I received mileage from my home post office to wherever they were sending me. I submitted one from my house to the office I was being sent and it was denied. They said I had to resubmit it in round-trip miles from my PO to station I was helping. After that I refused to go help neighboring offices because I thought mileage received would be from home to that office so it would have been more money received on my end, but only getting mileage from my PO to helping office wasn't worth it. Then they tried to force me in then send me to another office and I would refuse and make them send a junior RCA to me. If you are most junior then yes you may be screwed.

I'm aware of how the mileage works, im just saying getting them to pay it is like pulling teeth. There are only two rcas left in the two counties combined. And last time I said I didn't want to go to another office they said I would be written up.

When they threaten to write you up tell them to make sure that before signing it make sure your name is spelled correctly in the pay to the order of section the mileage check.

Smh

Beggars can't be choosers and USPS are definitely beggars. When they are down to 2 possible subs, they might want to think about working with those of you that are left. Otherwise management WILL be carrying routes and all leave for the regulars WILL be denied due to lack of coverage. Wanting to save DACA 5 money because a tier 1 regular has to deliver mail on their K day or J day is no reason to abuse the few subs that are left. This a sign of the things to come. I am dreading the next 2 months.

I'd be looking for the RDWL in that office. They're supposed to be working everyone IN THAT OFFICE before seeking outside help. Management has to prove no regular signed the list or was available.

The regs need to figure out what they want. 90 day letters are last resort. And USPS will screw the office by only hiring 2 or 3. But the regs shouldn't give up, put more 90 day letters in and coordinate taking leave all on the same day and using denied leave slips as justification for hiring more PTFs. Should be 4-6 in that office.

In this latest contract, mgmt may borrow after using the RDWL & BEFORE using non-list Carriers. Not all available Carriers have to be working before borrowing.

Getting them to pay it should be very easy. You write the miles on your green card and they pay the EMA if you’re not setup through PostalEasse to use the mileage form. If they give you any lip service, file a grievance right then and there.

Not the ema, the distance differential from my assigned post office to the different po they are requiring me to go to. Its similar to the mileage sheet you fill out for going to training.

It's the exact same sheet. You need to setup direct deposit through postal ease and a supervisor has to have access to the etravel site which most don't. Easier to green card it.

My PM set me up to be able to use e-travel on the Blue website (Ace? I don't actually know what it's called). So every other week or so, I log on at either my home PO or the PO where I help out regularly and submit those travel miles (from my PO to the other PO that I'm helping out at) on the e-travel form. I use the finance # for the PO where I am helping at and I submit the form to the PM at that office. He gets an email asking him if the miles are approved, he approves them and I get my check in the mail shortly there after.

Sounds like you actually have a competent PM, seems to be a rarity.
