Ah. So you're the one to go to when the debate starts about which was worse:
No DPS trays and trays of letters, plus a mountain of flats vs
Amazonageddon - EDDM - next day delivery.

Jay2419 et al -- "Can a RCA be made to deliver two routes in same day?"

-- Yes, IF the evaluated hours would be under 12 hours.

-- Step 4 ( R-96 ) in part: However, except in emergency situations, management MUST NOT SCHEDULE a leave replacement to serve on two full assignments or one full assignment and one or more partial assignments in a single day, IF the evaluations of these assignments TOTAL TWELVE HOURS or more. ( The down side is that it may take an RCA over 12 hours to complete deliveries. On the up side, OT comes into play if working over 12 hours. Plus manglement will have to notify District. )

-- Actually it is the ELM's Section 432.32 - Maximum Hours Allowed - Except as designated in labor agreements for bargaining unit employees or in emergency situations as determined by the postmaster general ( or designee ), employees MAY NOT BE REQUIRED to work more than 12 hours in 1 service day. In addition, the total hours of daily service, including scheduling workhours, overtime, and MEALTIME MAY NOT EXTEND over a longer period longer than 12 consecutive hours. Postmasters and exempt employees are excluded from these provisions. ( to irritate manglement, take the 30-minute lunch break in the break room where they can see you )

This was a useless rule in my office. Management continually doesn’t put a name on the schedule for more than 12 hours fully knowing that a route doesn’t have coverage. On the schedule it looks like the regular is working. Regular doesn’t say anything because they want off (they have an approved vacation slip). This was happening to me almost every Saturday and starting to happen during the week. Another one of the "rules" that doesn’t get followed in a RCA short office. As long as there is a way to not follow weakly worded rules it will happen over and over.
This along with working every Sunday and almost every day during the week was enough for me. After nine years, I resigned. I could have been full time two years ago but wanted a 'part-time' job. They are now abusing the remaining subs and they are ready to hang it up too.
