RCA's staying under 40 hours

ok, today is Thursday. So apparently they are trying to keep us RCA's under 40 hours for the week.  When they look at "the report", are they looking at our "evaluated" hours going over 40, or our "actual" hours going over 40?

Ok, but why? We get paid by evaluated hours if we are under 40 hours. Thanks?

I'll answer.

Once you go over 40 actual hours, then anything over is OT.  If you are covering a route long term or for a regular's vacay, you are entitled to work the route's full eval...even if you go over 40.

(Which is why smart regulars tell RCAs to sloooooow down...it's up to the RCAs whether to listen.  ;) )

I still don't understand why management is looking at our actual hours worked, and not the total number of evaluated hours we worked since we get paid by the evaluated hours.

If we go over 40 regardless it's overtime.

Because evaluated hours are not OT.

If you work under 40 (which I absolutely frown upon for myriad reasons. you are hurting yourself and your regular by doing so while the scanner is collecting info on your route even if your route is not in the time study), you get paid the evaluated hours.  No OT.

If you go 1 minute over 40, you are paid 40 hours straight time and 1 minute OT.

The powers that be are being death on OT right now...for all crafts.

All -- Keeping subs under 40 hours.

--  It's all part of "making the numbers."

--  Even though "OT" is supposedly just one of "pots" the USPS uses to pay carriers, other pots are probably empty by now and won't be refilled any time soon.

--  USPS officials "shocked" to learn a recent report indicated millions of extra miles being driven by LLV's.   Apparently someone forgot to factor in the use of LLV's for Sunday deliveries.

--  And time RCA's spend on Sunday deliveries takes away from potential work hours later in the week.

--  Don't look now but the end of the 2016 Guarantee Year is 3 months and 3 weeks away.   Not much time to help with those 2080 / 2240 problems, extra LLV mileages, and over time in general.

--  Probably just a coincidence, but an article posted 6 JUN 2017 about the APWU winning a national level arbitration against the USPS and another article posted 17 JUN# 2017 -- USPS reducing many APWU assignments / positions.

They got our clerks justifying every move they make now... adding up how many minutes for this and that... if the USPS spent as much time on delivering the mail, as they do on counting the mail and how long it takes to deliver it, we'd all be a lot faster...  <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

To expand on @oi-veh's point, postal math is really ridiculous. With postal math, they'd rather pay you 42 hours evaluated for your five days and pay another sub 8.4 hours for their day (total 50.4 hours evaluated) than pay you 40 hours at straight time and 5 hours at OT rate (total 47.5 hours). All so they can stay off of the "naughty list."

I thoroughly enjoy getting my boss on the "naughty list." It really gets under her skin and there isn't a damn thing that she can do about it either :D.
