Simple....write out a paper saying you are resigning, give it to po mgmt. Have them sign that they are accepting your resignation. Make a copy to keep. Contact tsp, request a complete withdrawal, pay the penalties, plus the taxes, should get it pretty quick,5-7 days.....not sure about pension stuff. Good luck though, and congrats on getting out alive, hopefully unscathed...from mental, verbal, and just an all around abusive, and EXTREMELY corrosive enviroment to your soul company I ever worked for...
Do not resign before you speak to shared services. Ask about deferred retirement to conserve income. Touching your tsp would be a financial mistake. The penalty interest without 30 years time served or 59.5 age is significant.
Really consider your options, even moving to another agency or craft. There are no Do overs for federal retirement. And you will lose access to Healthcare and life insurance without a deferred option.

I agree with Gotrope. You are so close that it would be a shame to give it all up. I would try to find a way to reach minimum retirement age before I pulled the plug. Do what you have to do to survive until you can retire with the benefits you have earned. Don't give it all up. Take time off if you need mental or physical refreshing. See a doctor and establish medical documentation for your troubles. There are alternatives to just quitting and I would explore all of them. The health coverage in retirement is excellent and when you reach retirement age you will be very happy you found a way to make it through. Possibly even pursue a disability retirement if the mental and physical stress are overwhelming. Don't just throw it all away. I think you will regret it.

Deferred retirement starts at 62 not 60 and there are no cost of living increases on the retirement amount until you hit 62.
Best if you do what neciat suggests and check it out at opm.gov.
If you're leaving because you got a better job, your business took off or maybe you won the lottery, good for you.
But personally I would do everything I could not to touch the TSP money. You can move the money if you want to, any brokerage firm would be happy to help. Getting old sucks (I know) but getting old and being poor would be much worse.

so sad and sick this place is , im in the same boat but i have to stick it out to 62, believe me i want to walk out everyday its an insane place to work at this time , when i joined it was not like this. dont know your situation but the above statements are correct, evil is the word i use for the usps at this time .

All you po mgmt reading our posts.....you'all should know that Gods gonna hold you accountable for your BEHAVIOR towards people just trying to raise their families, and take care of their loved ones.....and you know what, I'm gonna be there watching one day when you'all recieve the consequences of the life you lived, and the evil, and hurt you caused so many people when Jesus judges you, and says ....depart from me....and He-ll will be your eternal home.
As long as it bridges career time, it's good. You could even get another agency if you prefer. It doesn't have to be USPS. Agriculture dept hires, TSA, homeland...
