was notified today that two people applied for the rca job. One new person, daughter of a current rural carrier. Sounds promising. but we are on #8 or 9 as far as people who have turned the job down. the other is "super sub" as i call him. The guy who called in sick for close to 3 weeks straight without a doctors excuse. And walked out at 10 am..texted pm he quit. But now he is re applying. and he would be my sub. yay me...

-- Is "supersub" really reapplying or did the union get his job back?

-- Hopefully someone in the hiring process will note "supersub's" past association with the USPS and even though probably short of subs, say "No thanks."

Here's my experience yesterday: shadow day for a new RCA. We were casing mail--hadn't even been working 2 hours yet, and she asks me how soon before she can transfer to another office.

At that point I'm thinking, why am I wasting my time at all with this person?

We have only one RCA in our office right now--we did have two, but the other one quit after the first five pay periods and she wasn't being paid for all her time (she was awful, spent most of the time "training" to get quicker on the routes, only ever managed to work on her own three or four days the entire time she was with us).

5 k routes and one 37 hr aux in our office, we’re in decent shape for moment as far as subs go...3 rts covered lol. Same issue tho, I come back from 2 weeks off and my new sub Is talking about transferring to be near boyfriend as soon as she can. I’m really getting jaded...tried to make it as easy as I can, shared lots of hard learned lessons and experience, and because she seemed like she really wanted the job. Unlike my last 3 trainees who never made it to run the rt one day on their own. NBR last night says lowest unemployment rate (on roles, not new filings) since early 1970s...people wanting to work are ! We need to entice people to leave a job to come to us and I don’t see that happening given current circumstances.
