Transferring office options

currently an RCA for 3 years and the wife and I are thinking about moving to the west coast. What is the best way to look for an open route posting? If that's even possible?

Go to USPS.com. Scroll to bottom and select Careers. You will be given a page where you can select Hot Jobs and search by state. That listing will show availability and see if there is something where you are moving to. Contact that particular PM and work on a transfer.

I'm doing what your doing. Look at least twice a week for openings. Postings only last about 5 days on the market. They come and go quick. I got very lucky a posting opened up in the district I wanted, just waiting to hear back. Be proactive, call or show up to a couple offices and meet with the PM to see if they would take a transfer. Even though I applied for one position, I'm still going to ask the other offices. The chances on getting the one position are very slim and can't rely on that.
