Trying to get my follow rca's in my office to call out sick to send a message to management...

So for the back story...the senior RCA in my office was awarded a route back in January and was supposed takeover the route in the beginning of February. First he asked the PM to push the start date back by 2 weeks so that he could give his other job 2 weeks notice and the PM give him the additional 2 weeks but he's hasn't shown up for work since winning the bid on the route. It's been over 4 mouths now and our ADR is telling us there is nothing that she can do and that management is doing all that they can do to resolve the situation.

I work in a small office with 10 regular routes and then I have a 39 hour a week. There are only 3 of us subs in the office and over the last few months management has been killing us and there is no end in sight at the moment. So since we go into Saturday and Monday with 2 open routes I'm purposing that all 3 of us call out sick both day.

does anyone else have a better suggestion...

Seems like a good idea. Just be sure all 3 of you stand together. Your management will seek assistance from other PO's in the area so, it is not foolproof. They can't afford to fire you but USPS management rarely does intelligent things.

There must be more to the story. Has anyone done a proof of life check on the senior RCA. In my old office they would have left the 3 routes vacant and moved the suffering one day forward for the 3 of you.

-- While well-intentioned, don't air such detailed plans on social media -- just in case some manglement member reads it and thinks -- "Wow - that sounds a lot like my / our office!" Might not take long to figure out the ring leader.

-- If you noticed "wfillbra's" avatar "PATCO", ask a PATCO member what happened when they went on strike. Or Google it.

-- You could call in, saying that you took your temperature and it was 101. "Think I better self-quarantine for 14 days to be on the safe side!" -- per the numerous Stand-Up briefings.

-- What the other 2 RCA's do is up to them.

-- To expand on "Kubota Man's" posting -- manglement should be sending certified letters to the last known address of the missing RCA. If so, have any come back as "refused", "unknown", "moved", etc.

-- Has anyone in the office, other than manglement, requested the police check on the welfare of the missing RCA?

-- Has anyone in the area seen the RCA? Or checked the places of employment to see if he is still working there or the companies know if he has moved.

He's alive and well, a former rca who works with him at his other job told us that when told the 2nd job that he was thinking about leaving he was offered a pay raise to stay and he took that offer.

The 3 of you should have a "chat" with his boss at the other job. Tell him to have him resign from the po, or there might be some trouble...

Or suffer the wait?

It’s taking so long because the guy didn’t officially resign. Now management has to go through the process of removing him which involves sending a Duty Status Letter, and then an invite to an INI for the AWOLS, and then send out a Letter of Removal. They can keep the route vacant for one year while they take their time doing this. If the other RCA can get him to write a note saying he’s resigning effective blah blah blah, then management can terminate him ASAP. Otherwise the next RCA in line can file a grievance that management is dragging their feet in getting the RCA removed.

Unless he is under Drs care he is awol. Get this moving, stay on Mgnt , get union involved now. this can drag on unless you start harassing union and Mgnt. He has no leave to use, being a new reg. This sucks... try filing a class action in your office with the 3 subs to get this moving. Do it now!
