Understanding Pay

I'm a fairly new RCA, working since Dec 2017. I'm trying to get my head wrapped around how we are paid. I understand the basics of the evaluated time system and straight time for Amazon days. The ELM is a bit confusing and I didn't find any answers there.2nd Trips - In my post office, when the mail truck is late (fairly often) we will deliver packages to reduce the load. We will claim mileage for this. Would this be considered a 2nd trip? If not, how should 2nd trips be handled? I saw somewhere that 2nd trips should be paid on a green card. Where is this in writing?Overtime - I understand that if you exceed 40 hours evaluated time you are paid overtime for those hours over 40. I also understand that if you exceed 40 hours actual time you are paid for those hours in lieu of the evaluated time. For example your evaluated time for the week would be 45 hours but you actually worked 43 hours, you would receive the 43 hours. It seems silly, but that is how it was explained to me.12 Hour Work Day - If you exceed 12 hours in a work day, there is some sort of overtime paid, I think. Those are a few of my questions. Is there a document/manual/training session where I can learn about the USPS pay system? I'm not afraid of work but I want to ensure I'm being rightly paid.

Rca's are paid eval for the week, UNLESS they exceed 40 hours for the week... if the exceed 40 for the week, then they get paid their actual time, straight time for the 40, and time and a half for everything over 40...So, in your example of a sub working 43 hours on a 45 hour evaluated route... had the sub worked 39 hours that week they'd have been paid the eval, 45 hours...If they actually worked 43 hours, then the get 40 straight time hours, and 3 hours at time and a half (effectively 4.5 hours)...So as you see, it is a screwy system... work 39 hours, and get paid for 45... or work 43 hours and get paid less, 44.5 hours...That's one aspect of your question... but, not an insignificant aspect... ? RI has a Guide for New Regular Carriers... maybe someone could/should put together a Guide for New RCA's... ?

Someone did. ;)

https://knowledgebase.ruralinfo.net/mdocs-posts/second-2nd-trip-scenarios-and-compensation/https://knowledgebase.ruralinfo.net/mdocuments-library/?mdocs-cat=mdocs-cat-16https://www.ruralinfo.net/rcas-rural-carrier-associates.html

I made a thread once about RCA pay and it used to be pinned/stickied to the top of this sub-forum, but I can't seem to find it through the search and it isn't pinned anymore.

Maybe a moderator can help find it. :/

@Kelp - done. :)@egg250 - if you will go to the front of the leave replacement forum, you will see a pinned post at the top re: RCA pay.
