USPS rural carriers contract sets stage for privatization, does nothing to address wage theft through RRECS

dont take me wrong here, it is a scam, but has the ability to be manipulated. not with fixed things like walking times, dps ect. it s again there for the taking if u use it to your advantage, i at first lost 30 minutes on the first evaluation, ,i have got that back and gained , 40 minutes more. HAMMER THEM.
Not all rts are set up to take advantage of these specific things you mention. Any country really rural rts have been slaughtered, and those that also have a surplus of ndcbu's as well....mine was a combo of lake house with ndcbu's, and about 75 miles of suburbia in, and around that area.
It's a nice idea, but not applicable in all cases....😐😐😐🤠

I rarely have anything past the sacred 6. 212 boxes spread out over 122 miles. Rrecs murdered long routes. I've seen 20 mile suburban routes at 45 k bragging about being home before noon. I can't do that even if I didn't stop at a single box, and I'm in danger of going aux.

I worked for 20 years with a guy 45 k rt. The rt is 13 miles, no dirt, 3 apmt places, several businesses, in middle of town. Every day, done at 1:00pm, Christmas time 2pm maybe 230ish, light days, when I was a sub, hed be coming back in when i was headed out...rrec's didnt hurt him a bit....he claims all of us arent doing it right on rrec's.....i tried everything he said in the beginning......its CRAP, makes me want to rearrange his teeth.....👿👿👿🤠

You have no idea what a great feeling it is to be MRA, and to know that the end to all the stupidity is coming to an end. I feel really bad for people who are in their forties that work here. I can only imagine in ten years what more craziness you guys will have to endure.
I have 18 years until I can retire.

I’m trying to figure out a new path…I can’t stay in rural. It’s bleeding me dry.

Could've went with the 1970s legislative language l.

UPS pays $49/hr, 4 steps 4 years, every route a 40k, 70 packages makes a hard day. Hourly. I'm 99% certain no carrier would complain.

RRECS was part of the arbitration agreement mid-2012. This was the same that gave us the 2-Tier Pay schedule. Engineers were chosen by both sides & those 2 chose another to mediate. The Study was completed in 2013 at which time the programming & discussions started. Read the RRECS Guide for the full story.

There are no “federal time standards” for what we do which is why multiple studies were required to gather timing of the tasks that we do.

Mail volume fluctuation has nothing to do with the credit we get for DPS mail. 43 ppm is 1/2 the time as 86 ppm. The reason we get less time is that some carriers were timed in a Study to READ the address & flip to the next one. That is all verify gives credit for. Flipping it right side up is the Inverted Credit. Putting that letter in the box is the box credit. Placing it in Forwarding is in EOS so timed daily then averaged.

Unfortunately, true everywhere. Mgmt has the right to mismanage.

Every route has some RRECS scans. The Mandatory 6 Scans are RRECS scans.
If none are done due to a split, the timed functions are averaged. Even for a split route, there should be loading time scans by each carrier serving their portion.

Also there are federal standard. Talk to person who use to do it for a job. The workers would have standard for certain things and these things can and do pertain to us.

Example: person running machine has to reach up to grab lever to stop machine and grab part from it. Person has standard for time how far it is to reach lever and the distance. Then time to re focus eye on parts to grab. Time to grab and distance wash and repeat.

Look at casing mail. I'm holding flats in hand. I look at address, grab it, focus towards the part of the case it goes, put in proper slot, and re focus eyes on flats I'm holding/going through. 100% can be classified as fed time standard.

Well, right after reading their saying that RRECS was agreed upon by both parties, nothing else they say is credible. The Author did not do their homework, obviously.

Previous of RRECS, mail counts were more BS as mgmt would hide mail for those 2 weeks and would argue every single Column R/17 credit we would try to claim. Every package or flat was argued regardless of a scan bar. I had to recount every single piece, sometimes 4 times, to get proper credit. I had to come in on my Relief Day to observe or the sub would miss things for timing or counting. I DO NOT miss those days.

Route adjustments were more of a guestimate than it is now. Now is 3 minutes per mile so at least that is better than before. There are a lot more details to the RRECS adjustments now than the old way. I used to get cut 2-3 times a year due to my route being all new territory with some older low-volume curbsides. 48k to 43k to 48k to 43k. Over & over & living paycheck to paycheck. The curbside was the 1st to go & if you gained a large pickup from a company, too bad, figure it out. If the package wasn’t a priority or 2 lbs+, you got a letter credit.

I don’t see any ratified Agreement as “paving the way” to privatization. The no-layoff clause is still there and Congress would still need to makes big changes to the laws to allow that.
Having NO Agreement at all would leave us defenseless as At-Will employees. I’ve been in the private sector before coming to the PO. Ain’t nothing like coming back from lunch just to get fired because a supervisor doesn’t like you & found a way to blame you for their own mistake. No recourse to be had; no grievance to file. Just go find another job & unemployment until then. Or come in still sick after having the Flu for 3 days to be fired on the spot because you had the audacity to be “out-of-town” when it happen. I lived “out-of-town”.

This job is nowhere near perfect but a lot of laws have changed to make worklife better. I do wish I had started this career earlier so I’d be closer to 30 than 20 years.
If RRECS is such a great improvement, why do you feel we "need more management" to make it fair and accurate?

If it was fair and accurate, why aren't we able to see numbers every day??? Where's the database WE WERE PROMISE??????? Only way to see it is with management looking over my back.

We were looking for a compensation system but what we got is a digital supervisor that takes notes and has the capacity to filter, compare, and optimize.

Yep all I do is get flagged every single !#@$@#ING DAY for anything I do on my route even it is right.

My supervisor got phone call from one of the big wigs because he finally told them "don't put him on list for AUTHDIS unless he goes over 20." Told him don't do and you will explain everyday.

I got flagged because I marked I sold 2 stamps on my route, WHICH I DID!!

This article is extremely pro worker!

I’m a worker/stakeholder, so I will always support a significant better wage compensation, benefits, etc!

I very much believed in Rrecs at the beginning. I do see everything that I do on the Scanner. I check it regularly.
What I didn't expect is that the usps would redline, cap totals on loading and Eos, and not use my bread crumbs along with DPS numbers, to determine % coverages.
I've shown all of these things in disputes that go nowhere.
Meanwhile I loose as much as 6 hours of weekly pay while still serving the same route with a few more customers.
I still believe Rrecs COULD be more accurate than our old system, but not with Usps manipulation.

Yep RRECS could be great but there are many flaws with it and everyone has been posting it all the time.

Harassing EoS & load time along with now haarssing carriers about AUTHDIS, UNSCANPARCEL,TRIPS2DOOR, DOORMISC, STAMPSTOCKSALES & CARRIERPU.

Coverage factor that are ridiculous low. Not using all tools to create a more accurate coverage factor. Just watch the mail now. I can tell my day by seeing how many DPS letters I have. If I have little DPS expect no flats or presort. Pile of DPS it's flat central.

My question has been this. In last 4 years, I have lost 3 hours of pay hours and my route hasn't changed, BUT city carriers have lost the same stuff I have lost and yet no route adjustment to make their routes 8 hours............................. Again I am not wishing this on city carriers, but how is it "fair" that my route's time is adjusted EVERY 6 months, but yet city carriers LOSE SAME STUFF I HAVE lost and same at 8 hours.
