vpo removal aux route

So, vpo is moving back to po. I asked pm if my eval would be cut, he said most likely.

Im curious if I can request to be counted. The vpo added roughly 15 mins to the aux route and I don't believe it really shows or defines that time in my 2016 count papers. I believe its under "other" which is correct from what I recall.

My concern is how will it be determined how much is cut if its inclusive in the "other" category during count.

Can I request a special count? If so how soon? Lets remember I couldn't  get credit for the vpo until the last count but now it will cut my eval immediately? Figures.

rca4ever1 -- Sorry, what is a "vpo"?

--  Carriers can not request any type of count, unfortunately.

--  The new contract lists what qualifies for a special count on page 15.

--  MOU #1 seems to be ignored too.

Vpo is a Village Post Office. Its literally p.o. boxes that a carrier delivers to...usually located in a small country or something similar. Similar to a large cbu but customers actually pay a p.o. Box fee.

You are getting cut. You will no longer serve these boxes so no credit. Don't know if a 15 min loss could  affect your eval for now. Another story when next count is due.

On what basis are they moving back to the main office is the question. If it's to improve office clerk hrs there might be a grievance because these customers were willing to pay the fee of a POB rental to get their mail at this location on your run.

Could claim/cite withholding of territory.

rca4ever1 -- thanx for the "vpo" info.  yes, have heard of it, but never dealt with one.

--  Will any mileage be lost?

"My concern is how will it be determined how much is cut if its inclusive in the “other” category during count. "

--  Might want to get the Assistant District Representative involved to be sure the loss is correct.

--  How was the mail delivered to the VPO?   Separated per box or everything in one tub?

It came in a cage alone...a clerk would break it down usually into 2 tubs..flats ...parcels and a tray of letter from 2 ft to 3 inches as it varied

I loaded it...made my way to that location and poked it. Scanned parcels, pulled mail...left notices as usually. Then I would travel to that p.o. and drop parcels that didn't fit into lockers or mail that didn't fit in boxes.

No mileage lost. The route is only 32 miles and considered an L. Put it this way....its a 6 hr aux that has 450 stops but because of the mileage some H routes have less to deal with and its a bunch of BS but..I am thankful I work 6 days. Some k routes have less stops but triple the mileage! I am usually at eval or over. It doesn't change. C'mon engineer study!

I don't see you loosing anything until count in 2018, especially if nothing is on your count sheets specifying VPO, but just the time for it. Just like we can't "add" time to our evaluations because of the increase in Amazon parcels, the USPS can't subtract anything from our routes because of changes ( except for mileage or over 1 hour changes, due to loss of boxes).
