What in the contract or labor manuals states that leave cannot be used on sundays or holidays if you were scheduled those days?
The 2016 MOU Sunday-Holiday Parcel Delivery Work List (S-106) states in the 2nd paragraph of the 2nd page that a Leave Replacement that has approved Leave adjacent to a Sunday-Holiday will be bypassed unless they put in writing that they do not want to be bypassed. What in the contract or labor manuals states that leave cannot be used on sundays or holidays if you were scheduled those days?
Let me re-phrase the question, what days can we not be paid leave? We keep having issues where management is claiming they cannot pay leave on Sundays and Holidays because those are "non-Scheduled days" despite people obviously being scheduled on them throughout the country and clearly work hours get paid on those days...The 2016 MOU Sunday-Holiday Parcel Delivery Work List (S-106) states in the 2nd paragraph of the 2nd page that a Leave Replacement that has approved Leave adjacent to a Sunday-Holiday will be bypassed unless they put in writing that they do not want to be bypassed.
This is the same rule used for Regular Carriers that want to be protected from working their Relief Day.
The SDO for a Leave Replacement is technically Sundays & Holidays although they can be required to work per the work rules, just like Regulars with the Relief Day.
Those days are considered SDOs for Leave Replacements although they can be scheduled to work. Because it is technically considered the SDO, mgmt cannot pay Leave to be off.Let me re-phrase the question, what days can we not be paid leave? the whole pay system is a huge loophole. makes me wonder often who our union is really working forThat is an awesome loophole for management to exploit. Essentially carriers can be scheduled on a "scheduled day off", fall ill, submit sick leave to cover their butts and be denied payment of the sick leave because of their "SDO". Gotcha
If you’re at work on your Relief Day & you fall ill & leave, you are paid the hours worked at the OT rate. That is an awesome loophole for management to exploit.
