Wire Cages in Use ??

 So we had wire cages in use during Christmas , orange hampers have disappeared. Now Feb and wire cages still in use. I read they were to be used for bulk transportation. Define bulk transportation ? Are we to be using these ? Any information out there on this topic ?? Anything re count steps for them ?

Q: WIRE CAGES

A: CAGES ARE ONLY TO BE USED FOR BULK TRANSPORTATION. ASK FOR ACTUAL TIME FOR LOCATING, MANEUVERING TO VEHICLE ETC. THEN FILE. NALC HAS MULTIPLE GRIEVANCES ON THIS ALSO.

Our ADR says cages & postcons are NOT for carriers to use in transporting mail to the vehicle as they can pose a danger to the carrier in the parking lots. They are not easy to maneuver nor are they made for that purpose. Most of our carriers have 2 hampers & 1 cage but rarely is my 2nd hamper used for parcels. I do have a hard time periodically maneuvering the cage out to my LLV as our parking lot is at an incline & a bit bumpy.

So what do you think managements response would be to " Hey " we are to use hampers and because they shipped them all out and there are none in the building ......they have none and what are you going to do about it  ...??

Aux01 --  Let manglement explain to the Assistant District Representative why wire cages are being used instead of buggies / pumpkins.

--  Maybe the two sides can come to an agreement on how much extra time credit will be given for wire cage usage.

For some strange reason the necessary equipment you need to load at count will be available, and if applicable the loading dock area will be clear so individuals or multiple individuals can load simultaneously.

Here in snow country , we have always used our Nutting carts to load off the dock. So procedure does not change when count is in effect.
