Would be nice to have union that does something like this

Intro - Online Survey Software

Would it not be nice to have union that does this???? At least ask the people who pay them good money but instead we just get ignored.
The thing is, we do actually have this process. It involves passing resolutions first locally then through your state and finally presenting them and getting them passed at the national convention. Might sound cumbersome but it does work if you put in the effort to do it.

This is what has been wrong with the NRLCA as long as I have been here. There is no member engagement. State and national delegates push their own agendas, they don't poll their members or request input. They don't have reps that even show up at the offices assigned to them ever to meet carriers and offer help. That's why most carriers don't even know who their rep is, they have never seen or heard of the person.

For those that don't realize what they are missing out on, other unions typically have reps that visit every work location on at least a monthly basis shaking hands with each and EVERY one of their members and asking how things are going and if they need anything. And.... their union dues are less!

You'd think if NRLCA isn't going to even engage their members at that level maybe they could do something else to promote cohesion. How about a quick poll that takes 5 minutes to create and can be accessed by members at home and from the computers they carry in their pockets? Nah... lets blame the people working 60 hours a week and want some personal/family time for not coming to union meetings.

But this is such an easy way to get opinion from your members. Quick 5 min to make a poll. I could make one and get idea of things. Plus some of us like myself have 2nd job and don't have the time to do things. This would be so much easier to for union and all of the info in 1 survery.

I don't disagree but just understand that the process is there. Also, keeping it for just members is harder when you do things online like that.

First problem I see is that all shop stewards and most ADR's carry routes full time, are allocated minimal time to perform union duties, Most of those duties involve Investigative interview presence requested by carriers.

The NALC reps who come to our offices are full time union, so they're allocated time and given the task of visiting offices as part of their work responsibility.

City carriers have fewer issues, though they're just as important (step wages, benefits, etc) Our RRECS system is SO COMPLEX it creates LOTS of issues which fractures the number of employees supporting any one or two key areas.

I'll repeat. The bottom line. We cannot strike, so our union's hands are tied. I know of no other labor union that doesn't have the right to strike as a final negotiating tool. Without it, they have almost no leverage.

The union doesnt want to hear from us. It's really that simple......they are WORTHLESS, and a waste of time...when the time comes, we will throw them out with all the other trash, and move on to something better...

I wouldn't want it to be just for members, though question 1 or 2 should be "Are you a Dues paying member?" The union affects the craft, and if a little survey changes someone's mind into paying dues because the union actually addressed one of the surveyed areas it was worth the 0.004 kWh spent compiling the electronic survey questions, submitting to a requester the 189kb, recieving a filled survey at 213kb, and porting the results into Access for compilation and the 3 seconds to filter and sort dues/non-dues and topics.

Belittling and aggressively trying to remove non-dues from all processes ensures you have no benefits to give to anyone who views the union with skepticism since you'reso tight-fisted no one can see your offer. Plenty of things are best open to the wider craft and show solidarity, brotherhood, and a sense of belonging to  invite these people in. Payscale, the protest signs if that's your shtick, MMS, and RRECS; these last two affect the current *insert descriptor* messing up the route and the next (dues paying) PTF stuck going to it after the reg bids off.

Who are you including in the “We cannot strike” ?

Straight up, if you refuse to pay your union dues then you should have no voice in said union.

letter carriers
Well....this is just my first inclination ok....so take it with a grain of salt....if I ever run into some of those
muckety-muck, lying, CHEATING, thieving
union worthless bass-turds, I'm gonna for sure throw em a strike from the hip, itll end up on their lip, and I'll be hightailin it outa there before I get arrested.....how's that for not being able to STRIKE...🤣😂😆🤣😂🤠 There's more than one way to skin a cat, or a SNAKE in this case...🤣😂🤣😂😉🤠🇺🇸

Your decision. You currently see the results thereof.
  • A recent attempt at removal of representation by the craft.
  • Over 40,000 employees and more every year refusing to join and participate due to lack of or perceived lack of representation, information, benefits, results , value!
  • Grievance payouts and filings below even the MPHU.
  • Locals being fused due to lack of quorums.
  • TA ballot participation below 15%.
  • National unable to negotiate true gains instead of being given trinkets by USPS.
  • MOUs that actively damage carriers; i.e. frozen for a year and a half.
Give it another 20 years of staying the course, which I don't see past 10 but sake of arguement, that current 70% of union membership will reduce even further as more leave. By a large amount. How much worth would a union be if it represents only 50%? How about only 30%? To be fair to you, you only need 9% to make decisions for a whole craft so i guess it wouldn't matter.

Kinda like how the union hid RRECS stuff behind pay wall when it affects everyone in the craft.

I understand if the union puts certain things behind pay walls. I have NO ISSUE, but things like RRECS, pay charts, and the basics of the job shouldn't.

I believe you're missing a very big point: the union and its participants largely do not know how to use a computer, let-alone what dragging would mean. Though i do see that changing in 10 years, just by sheer inertia of time and the bodies failing
In 10 years it'll be all AI and robots... 🤔 🤷‍♂️👉🤖👾👽☠️🤯:ROFLMAO:
