new routes and old

I'm sure its been posted before, and thank you in advance.

We had two routes coming up. One walk off the job and quit, the other put her retirement papers in. Both have been literally 30 days. Manglement seems to keep playing coy about posting the routes, that they have no idea etc. I know the contract states 30 days that they have to post said routes (least one for sure). I know the other it depends on leave left etc (retirement lady) but to my understanding she has none left in the tank.

They are also not modifying said routes etc to extend the 30 day limit. I am understanding that they are short handed on rcas and dragging their feet on posting these two routes as I am in the top two now, so im getting anxious to get out of Sundays, the constant helping etc.

I hate to go the grievance route as it seems the only way to move the ball forward, as posts past our office is not as it should be and sub par. Rocking the boat seems to make things worse as most know, but after all this time waiting and waiting as a rca workhorse i dont want to wait say to xmas when its shotty

So go the grievance route or?

Also on the lady who retired, is there a way to see or find out how much time she can dink before that route is posted (my understanding she has nothing left.) our local steward quit stewarding as he is on a aux and they make him bail out all the slow people

Just grieve it. Carriers retire with a set date. Management knows this. Your steward will sort it out.

A resignation doesn't unfold like a retirement. All the administrative actions are processed on the back end, not the front as in a retirement situation. This will almost always cause the effective separation date to be a pay period or two after the carrier's physical departure. The 30 day clock doesn't start until the carrier is actually off the rolls.

They are probably waiting so that both routes can be posted at the same time. Even if a vacant route is posted after the 30 day deadline, remember management has 71 days to post, award and fill the route(s). That is the real controlling timeline. By all means file if the 30 day deadline is violated but that alone may not result in a make-whole remedy unless management fails to fill the route by the 71st day.

So when I turned the paper in, it was signed and I made a copy of it. Then it gets sent or faxed to the union steward I’m guessing. Sorry I don’t do grievances often unless I’m pushed so not sure on whole process

You have to send it to your Union steward. Management doesn’t send those in.
