• Everyone, please help make our jobs easier and choose the correct category. Thank you

What are your results?

I went from high 43 on sector segment (52:11) to low 42 on DPS (49:52). They screwed me by cutting me before count after I had failed a DPS review that bumped me to a 47. If they had just left me alone, I would have ended up around a 44 naturally, but they know best.

Now I’m debating whether to invoke the step 4 from January that says they have to rebuild me to a 43. My district rep says I should, and I want to just to be a pain in the ass, but since I only lost an hour of pay, I’m debating just riding it out. I’ve got a few more days to decide.
You can add a little more to the PITA thing with a DPS review. ?

Thank you so much for this neciat
This sucker is gonna be printed and taking a ride with me tomorrow to work

My pm was told by district atleast 5 times it should only take 15-20 seconds to riffle and I should find any errors while delivering. They completely disregarded the directive that finding mhs errors is done during the riffling process
it took me about 2.5 minutes a day to riffle all the trays using the instructions word for word from the mail count guide

I only had 3 edit book times 1 was 6 minutes and the other 2 were 3 minutes each. I hadn't seen my edit book in 2 months so I don't feel it was excessive at all.

Also the 3m mark ups were not even an option on the markup sheet sent to us to use on the count
There was also no way to record the time I spent with pm for any package related issues on any given day

No one in my office ever counted anyone taking dps to the street before and they didn't know any of the rules for it and I know I lost out on things because of it. Especially the first 3 days when my learning curve was at it's worst

They didn't even know that the business closed mail can get counted as a package when delivering

But what really grinds my gears is that your pay is based on how well you know the rules pertaining to something you never did before with only a booklet that's open to interpretation to guide you

Seems like a losing battle

I haven't heard the final results of the count yet so I don't really know what's headed my way from district do they sent requests to edit?
food for thought.... you got 30 seconds for that business closed mail... so nice of them when you might have gotten a minute or two if you added up the flats and letters...
dps not perfect mail are raw mail whether you case or take to the street...

My only concern with that is dealing with another special count next year. I know that I will fail again, even with as bad as our DPS was during count, but it’s the question of whether it’s worth it to enjoy being a 47-48 again for a year before dealing with this all over again.

You are more than welcome !! That's one of the reasons we are all here and that is to actually help each other. Districts have all too often questioned, red lined, disputed, flat out denied, etc. many a mark up, other suitable allowance time, loading time, etc. Here's the thing with all that. All we ever hear from THEM is this, " It is what it is." Well, that's until you might go up a minute and now it ISN'T what it is. They sit in an office and look at numbers. They have NO CLUE as to what vehicle you are shoehorning parcels into, moving them three times to get everything to fit. There are cases where even the local counter or supervisor was at least actually present in the office with the carrier and saw what a given carrier had to deal with and works with the carrier like in w2e2w2e's instance. Your new numbers take effect TOMORROW. I sure hope they have everything corrected, fixed, punched in, etc. You should know what you came back as by now.

Ok this made me actually laugh out loud- I should want to cry but the irony is too funny
This is exactly why I and my counters needed training
No results yet still from district on the damage

Well, from DPS if it is 7 or less letters it is credited as raw letters meaning each piece. If the number is 8 or more then it is considered a parcel.

Went from a 44K to a 43J. Lost 5 hours. Flats are non existent right now. Nowhere near my pre Covid normal. DPS is what saved me this count with all the political mail. If not for that I'm sure I would have dropped even lower.
Well at least you’ll have every other Saturday off. If it ever goes back up to a K route, you keep the Saturday too.

PLEASE EXPLAIN!! One of my coworkers told me this but once we asked our steward she said it was not true so I thought nothing else about it.
J routes are entitled to a Saturday for their J day.

Also, do you know about Free Saturdays?

You say you lost 5 hours. Well, I respectfully disagree. They TOOK 5 hours. Plus, for REAL numbers, you gotta' add the hours that you work that extra day every two weeks to that 5 hours. Take all of your numbers and put them on one of the count calculators . Put everything where it belongs EXCEPT for your DPS. Put THAT into the sector segment column. Now, look at you standard hours. How 'bout now ? How ya' looking now ? Time to request that DPS quantity review and get your day off back.

Yes I know that I get every other Saturday. Twingrlie stated that once I become a K again I get to keep my Saturday. I need to see that link to that rule ?

No, Free Saturdays are a special privilege for H and J routes only.
It's Saturday off, you do not get charged annual leave for it, but you get paid for it.

(There's more to it than that, but it's the only thing I miss since my J went back up to a K!)

This was settled at step four. A J route keeps their Saturday as a relief day once they become a K route since they had it as a J.

I will most def be looking into this. I asked another person about it today and he said that since we are a formula office it doesn't apply to us. Saturdays off in our office (K days) are based on seniority. Once a carrier with a Saturday route jumps off that route or retires the incoming regular only keeps it for a few weeks until the matrix is re-done and it allows the next senior in line for Saturday to take it.

You get free Saturdays for a J route as well.

The matrix being redone should only be happening if you gain RCAs or lose RCAs. A regular retiring should not change the relief day of the route unless they lost too many RCAs to afford having that most junior carrier keep the Saturday.
