Staying in the mode iv'e been stuck in, lead me to do some digging as to why our DC bunch and some of our state DR's think we work for them. Joey J 153k, David H. 141k, Ronnie S.144k Jeanette D. 144k, Clifford D. 130k, committeeman 121k. So if i'm seeing correct, some of them get more in bennies and route pay? I'm back to this------- and you can't call me back? You can't come to our State conventions or rally's to take questions? Who works for who? What is so important to know the answer and to hold them at all levels,,,,, accountable. Even most of your State DR's are over $80k plus rt pay. Keep this all in mind next time they say-----"management can do that!"
Do Stewards Get Paid Extra???

No more of my money is going to them, left the association about two years ago after paying in over twenty years. Off with their heads and we can hope that the  NLCA wants to bite again at taking over representing our craft.   </blockquote>
I quit about 2 years ago also, what I don't get are these people giving extra money to the union, there crazy

I was checking out for new breaking news on the NRCLA website.....Shock....Nothing there...No info from any conferences, etc.   BUT..I did notice something in the media section....If media wants to contact our media guy via email, his email address is his first initial and last name@nrlca.com......Would this mean jdwyer@nrcla.com is our fear/less leader's email?   Hmmm?

nrcla is the only large organization I know of which does not have email access for its members to the national organization...Shamefull.

These leaders win re-election with 80% of the vote, so they have no fear of the average carrier because we are not allowed to vote for or against them. The only way to get their attention is to cut off their money. Its surprising that with over 2 decades of massive cheating on counts most carriers still pay and don't care.  </blockquote>
As long as they continue to be re-elected, as long as members continue to pay dues, as long as carriers continue to vote overwhelmingly to approve new contracts, why should they think they are doing anything but a smashing good job?

Would it be possible to get a "real" amount of packages by not having a count this year? Now the ones who are being hammered by extreme variance in volume have a good reason to complain. Then file a grievance. And ask the stewards why they aren't setting this situation straight. Be ready for getting the numbers though.

Ok several questions here:

1-How do you find out how much a DR or ADR make?

2-They receive both their Union Pay and Route pay, so even while they are full time Union they are holding down a route and stopping a Sub from going regular?

Just curious as I thought once they went full time ADR or DR that they lost their route and the Union was paying them only.

thanks.

Please do not take this as fact but from my understanding when the DR position was created a few years ago the pay at that time was $75,000 a year paid by the union, plus benefits, mileage, phone, use of house office.

ADR pay I am not sure of.

Their route is on hold..if the DR ever gives up the position their route will be waiting for them.

So let me get this straight.  I may just not be understanding it fully.  Let's say a DR gets $75k a year.  If they work their route they also get paid for the days they work the route?  In addition to the DR pay?

I don't think they ever work a route if they are a DR.  The ADR's do work a route, at least in theory, but they are kept pretty busy with grievances in the offices that have no local steward.  However, being a DR could give some benefits like having a really good high three just before retiring.  I saw that the national office was asking for applications for ADR and DR positions across the US. Are their terms up?  I don't know if they were an appointed or elected position??????  Any info on this?

Does anyone know what the salary is for an ADR?  I have considered applying for a steward and/or ADR position and have been encouraged to do so by others.  Just don't like applying for positions without knowing all the details.

Does a NRLCA, Steward make extra money being the Steward?

I would like to know how the incomes of our NRLCA leaders stand up in comparison to other union leaders. If comparable to what we should expect for people running the 29th to largest union in the country I will be into pursuing other directions.

As for our leading Stewards, I was into hiring students just out of law school. They would have cost less and used something more than old wives tails to fight with.

@ Surprise.. All links are dated 2015.

Here is link for NALC leadership pay. This Union is #19 on list I found. Membership around 292K.

Union Facts| National Association of Letter Carriers | Leaders, Employees, and Salaries

At #20 is the APWU with membership around 286K.

Union Facts| National Association of Letter Carriers | Leaders, Employees, and Salaries

#22 is the Mail Handlers on this list. Around 269K membership...

My DR is listed on the above report as "steward"

If a carrier opts out of the union, they still get the exact same representation as if they were a member.

What they don't get is they cant vote for officers, they can't go to conventions and meetings, and they aren't able to get specialized training, such as the classes prior to mail counts.

They keep their routes. Same as if a rural were to go 204b indefinitely. My DR hasn’t carried his route in 11 years but can go back whenever.
