Lyra -- "we got word our office is going digital and they are counting 4 routes digital. Any info? no human is counting anything."
-- Must be manglement is going to rely on the End Of Run reports and what ever the clerks scan for parcels.
-- Just a heads up: my last post office had DPS machines for a while. The clerks who ran them let the carriers know there could be more than one EOR for a run of DPS Letters. ( maybe that has changed since then ) ( no idea about DPS Flats )
-- Anyone: How do EOR's get to the office and does manglement hand them to the carriers?
-- Best to ask manglement: "Is this the absolute last EOR for my DPS Letters?" Mark it as such, but keep looking for more!
-- During mail counts the office used a "standard" of 425 pieces in a tray of DPS. That number could be off IF the tray was full of post cards or some mailer such a VAL-PAC's. It probably would not hurt to do an actual count of a DPS tray of mail should you get an EOR of 2125 ( about 5 trays ) and you are looking at 8 trays. Again, depending on the mail pieces. Don't be afraid to count parcels / SPR's / helicopter flats ( flats in tubs that are every which way is how we called them )
-- No idea how "accountables" ( including arrow keys and gas cards ) will be handled. Anyone??

@btdtret .... It has been mentioned to me,
The APP image scan paper taped to cages, gaylords, cardboard forts contain all the information regarding Parcel and flats for each route daily.
Don't know how the #s for bundled flats or no scan parcels are figured nor does PM. Mass mailer INFO for each run? LMAO.
JS... Clerks were but no longer count Rural Raw Mail, measure bundled flats or "Paw Count" our parcels in capture units but still do for the City carriers.

In regards to footage office credits due. If they have moved equipment around since the routes last hard count you should grieve the issue if more footage is involved. Let them worry about less footage.

Perhaps one of our stewards on here can correct me,
But it had always been the rule that any time study of any kind must be done jointly with the union and the USPS. Previous time studies done secretly without knowledge or input of the union were thrown out and not useable in contract negotiation or arbitration.
SO, does the Union know this is going on? And if so, have they chosen not to inform those they are sworn to represent?
Or are they clueless to what is going on?
Either way, wouldn't this require some action on the unions part?

The biggest issue won't be tracking the route mail. There are mailer manifests for that and EOR for automation. The biggest issue will be deliveries by other than assigned carrier for the day. Unless every carrier changes their rt data to the particular rt delivery they are performing ( splits, parcels, swings, injury assistance, etc) that mail will not be credited to the route as a daily time event.
Imagine all the missing miles and delivery data for about 30k rts which receive daily assistance of the above nature.
I'm sure hoping national has been verifying the assistance time versus rt swings.

Could the Op or the OP's management be mistaken?
The next step in RRECs is route digitization. Digital?
The PO has been tracking us already for digitization. Would it not make sense that the PO already has most volume numbers?
The last step would be the mini count.

The union knows they've helped them im sure. As long as we make enough to keep paying our dues is all they are worried about.

I gotta ask what is counted as extra footage and where is it put
In the count sheet?
I have reviewed my count info. And there is no extra unaccounted for time, and the only footage listed is for the distance from vehicle to CBU.
Is this a thing of the past you are talking about or does someone have a current reference for this?

I have to ask if your carring your scanner on your person doesn't that give all your footage for each day? Wouldn't you be receiving a scanner print off everyday? It should list all things correct?

I'm just saying all I hear is that's how we are getting paid in the further so they should show us everyday what we did like almost a end of run report? This would be in my option a end of tour report ? Shouldn't be more than using the print buttom?
