So pm instructs me i have to change case labels within the next 3 days(see other thread). So i change case labels friday afternoon. Sub comes in on Saturday and has a meltdown. Claims he cant find addresses. names are wrong, yada yada. So apparently this is all my fault since i spent 3 hours going over my edit sheet and changing everything. yet the labels still came out wrong. I did find a couple addresses that werent even on the labels today. How am i supposed to see all that when i change the case? sometimes you have to case the mail to find out if anything is wrong. but hey, things could be worse. I m getting back before dark, thats a plus.

I thought label change in the hourly period was a no-go policy.

As to missing locations on new labels. You need to check Edit Book for these missing locations.

If they are listed. Check label print status in Edit Book. If it is showing # symbol. It means location is not printed on new labels.

I've been known to look at them and say...these aren't corrected and throw them in the trash.

PM now gets me a copy of the new edit sheet for review, then prints off labels. Labels reveal the truth. That's why I ask for them every other month. Not to put them up. But to force my edit book to go to Eagan, and make sure changes are actually made.

Strike out #. Note your need for cell size location. If you select 1 it will be printed as such. If you need to have 1/2 cell for this location note 1/2. The 1/2 option requires you to also note location prior or next location for label print depending on lay and volume for these locations.

I have never heard of changing out labels during no overtime Christmas period.
Most PM'S want you in and out as quickly as humanly possible and you are not to do anything but the bare minimum as far as office duties. Is this a new PM or just a control freak? It is nice that you will get paid for this duty and maybe at overtime pay. I would note on the 4240, Changed case labels per PM orders.

Punishment for missing a scan. I requested labels on July. Got them last week. Wasn't going to deal with them until next week. But missed scan, and suddenly they had to be done within three days

PM is being counter productive; and may end up costing the Postal Service big bucks. How big is your route? I don't know how long it takes for you to change out labels; but it takes me about 2 hours to do the entire case.
There's a few different way labels are printed. I opt for the serrated ones. Just tear off the rows and stick into my plastic holders. Coworker gets the sticky kind and sticks on top of the plastic holders. Only takes us about 30 minutes.

Pure unadulterated correct edit book=zero cutting and splicing.

@johnwayne curious, do you have names on your case? If so, take them all off. See how your PM reacts to that!

Edit books go to your local AMS usually at district building

You should as you put them up, compare them with your edit book and cut and paste where applicable.

you mean the old ones that i sliced/diced and corrected when i put them on the case?
Well the idea behind the edit book is to make the labels match the book, which in turn matches the case and the case matches the line of travel. The match is used to eliminate the slicing and dicing on future sets of labels! My labels are in sequence, just tear them apart compare them to the set that's already in the track, slide the old ones out and the new ones into the track. After you get it cleaned up its easy to maintain. When I'm aware of future growth (new construction) I set it up well in advance of the actual delivery start date. Another words, I reserve space (with blank labels) on the case and add them to the edit book & assign numbers as they are built!
