RCA's need to work 6 days a week?

I'm an RCA who normally works two days a week on the only two routes in our office. Has anyone else experienced their postmaster saying RCA's need to be working 6 days a week? My postmaster, who I trust, is saying they just recently got an email about this. There are offices in more populated areas within 50 miles, which I know I'm obligated to cover if told to do so and are need of RCA help. It's just, personally, I've preferred not to do so as I'm slow to learn new cases and will probably be out late on a new route. Is there a thread I haven't seen about this 'mandate'?
I’m an RCA am working 7 days a week I run a 3hr Aux 6 days a week, cover the K-route and my Aux on Saturday.
I deliver Amazon on Sundays, in an office 35 miles (one way) away and 3 days a week I drive 45 miles (one way) to deliver in another office after I complete my AUX.
Working 50-60 hrs every week
I’d be driving 45 miles every week day, but I have weekly appointments that keep me from having to go two days a week. I never thought I’d be grateful to have a chronic condition

This is a 2 route office with a postmaster who chose to move back to their hometown. They are saying this is a nation-wide (mandate - not her words) for RCAs to work 6 days a week. Just wondering if other postmasters are getting the same emails.
In my area all RCAs are being forced to work everyday up to 50 miles from their office. I am being told by the POOM where I am going. We have an office 6 miles from my house that has a carrier out for surgery and the PM has been carrying the mail for 3 weeks. My PM asked if I could cover for that office instead and POOM said No!
They’d rather pay me 90 miles in mileage and 1.6 hrs in travel time
Seriously messed up system we have going

Our RCA's in our offices are working 6-7 days per week JUST covering some days off for regulars. Each week several regulars rotate taking their scheduled day off, others working them. No new hires in sight. Many are over allowable carryover for AL, but with denied requests so be it. PM is totally apathetic but has no choice but to work us as it's being done. He's providing documented non approvals so we can use to keep or get paid for AL time accrued over allowable.

Same in my office. Luckily we're maxed at 6 since we don't have Amazon Sunday.

Sure nothing like that going on around here. Our PM is good, knows I'm not going to work outside our office area. We finally have subs enough that I stick primarily to my assigned route to sub.

Nobody wants to work, period. Free government money, live off parents, whatever.

When someone applies, it takes far too long to hire, they've found another job.

District told PM if we got sick calls they can case and carry. (our PM is actually BUSY, customers at dutch door, throwing parcels, taking swings out to city carriers, etc, but apparently the District thinks otherwise)

People don't want to work these days , pretty sad . Too many free bees from the government

I personally don't think it's that people don't want to work. Sure there's some out there that want to mooch off the government. But just a review of posts on this thread along will show most people what the issues are. I believe it comes down to the GOVERNMENT mooching off the people! Too many jobs elsewhere that still permit people to work, spend time with family, friends and go to worship AND not have to get an accountant to determine if we actually got paid according to the extremely complex and screwed up pay system.

I disagree it is people are finally waking up and not accepting whatever jobs want to pay them. They are deciding you will pay me this much or I won’t take the job.

Personally I can make more doing the jobs I have experience in within the private sector. i just truly do love the job itself not necessarily the BS that comes with it. So for now my hat is in the ring with usps but I have options at any time I want them.

Their email should be saying that management needs to hire more RCAs, perhaps adding incentives to make the job more attractive in today's job market.
No, they will just further abuse the subs we have left.
How many will stay?

There have been subs that become extremely safety conscious when ordered to another office. They make sure they are very thorough and do NOT rush in any way. They often require help to complete the assigned route. The managers in those offices often do not want those subs in the future. ;)
I have never been one who could speak diplomatic like !

Strange how certain parts of the contract are enforced, but the rrecs isn't. Or table 2 is created per 2012 arbitration, but rrecs-which came from the same arbitration-isn't. Pick and choose, the way contracts work.

Yep, you have to work 7 days a week. Might I suggest looking for a job that pays benefits and retirement if you gotta work 70 hours a week?

Half true and half not.

I know people who don't want to work, but there are also people who realize that they aren't being paid fairly. Using USPS as an example. RCA aren't paid fairly for how we are treated and thrown around to the wolves. Now I'm not here to say we need $30 bucks an hour, but we should be well over $20. Closer to $24 to $25 based on where salary was in 2012 and if it kept raising roughly .40 to .50 cents an hour.

THINK ABOUT THIS!!!!

2012 RCA $19.45 an hour
2022 RCA $19.06 an hour ($19.50 whenever it happens) Then $19.95 an hour in Nov

100% agree. Just as my example above. 10 years later RCA are making less than 2012. I enjoy the job, just tired of the BS drama and what not. Why I transferred to smaller office.

You said, "district thinks!" :D😄😆:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:😂😃

ABCya et al -- "I personally don't think it's that people don't want to work. "

-- The people just don't want to wait around for months to finally get hired by the USPS.

-- As some have posted here, they found a much better job during the wait.
This is true. During my orientation 2 other recruits abandoned the training as they got a better offer elsewhere.

2012 my rca wage $19.45 fast food to factory $7-$12 no benefits.

10 years later with a massive paycut, I now make a few dollars more. Meanwhile fast food to factory to big box stores $18-$26 with full benefits.

There was an incentive to work and abuse RCAs when they got nearly 3xs more pay then minimum wage. And some of you boomers cry about only getting $11...OK and minimum wage was $4. Again, 3xs more.

3x $18 should put step 15 at north of $50 to keep up with inflation and trends.

People don't want to live paycheck to paycheck. They want to thrive and live well.

If I didn't make bank off ema I would be gone. I don't see how anyone with Amazon, a short route, or living on the coasts stays. Just comparing what table ones make for doing the same job makes me sick.

Good point. How do they find people to deliver mail in Seattle or Philly for $19 an hour? A parking spot can cost you over $500 a month.
