Is being forced to deliver packages to PO box customers grievable?

These PO box customers do not have mailboxes. They live within the municipalities corporate limits, They are not rural customers and they are not city customers. The entire town has PO boxes. For the first time ever, RCAs are being forced to deliver packages to these houses.

I think this is a dumb move as it sets precedent.

This is kind of strange. Shouldn't the packages be going to the PO Boxes ? We have businesses and houses with PO Boxes and they get pretty mad if they get a package delivery to the door since they all have PO Boxes for a reason.

But in any case the actual rule is that only Express mail is supposed to be delivered to houses that don't have a mailbox.

So yes you can file a grievance over it and win. You are essentially delivering to them for free since without a box they are not part of your evaluation.
Parcels should be returned under NMR, unless it's part of Amazon Sunday (I think. One of the smart people on this site will correct me about this if I am wrong).

When I first started as an RCA, one of the clerks would give me the parcels for a few PO Box only addresses because she didn't want to deal with them.

.
anything we get for Sunday that is PO Box we hand back to clerks to deal with.

just make sure it is not listed yet for you to deliver before done for the day. If it is use PO phone and call management and cover your bum. Tossing ppl under the bus is a PO national sport 😂.

Customers that have dual addresses have them for a reason, everything addressed to a PO Box should not be delivered to a Street Address!

Just out of curiosity, when RCAs or others who may be unfamiliar with routes are doing parcel runs, do any of them check for hold, forwarded, or PO Box/lack of street mailbox service? Or does anyone else check for them before sending the parcel runners out?

I know the answer at my office, and am pretty sure it is the same at others.
Can answer for my office. In prior years when we had enough rcas to give help. Each reg or rca if on a route that day. Would go thru the parcels to make sure beforehand for any holds etc. we weren’t scheduled to help till 8 am the first 2-3 hrs rca(s) would do pick ups collection boxes for all routes. Then rcas would do parcel or parcel and mail help after that.

I'd grieve to convert it to rural delivery service. It appears that management has reconsidered the eligibility of that delivery area. 😏

There may be more to it than this just to convert the territory, but even if it's not enough to convert, it will shine a light on the issue.

If a manager requires you to deliver P.O. Box parcels, all P.O. Boxes should be add to your route’s edit book . Now you have credit for the action your manager is requesting and will be paid accordingly.
By the way who is to determine which P.O. Box customers go with which routes, they all may drive by those addresses so each carrier could add one address to several routes. When management is confronted with the outcome of their decisions they often times change back to the previous way things were done.

This is RCA’s delivering parcels. There are no city carriers/no city delivery. RCA’s are being paid to deliver parcels doesn’t matter where. Mgmt. is free to manage. If they don’t want the office to fill up with parcels or are actually trying to provide some customer service that’s their decision. As long as the RCA’s are paid and no regular is tasked to deliver them or no regular is denied leave then nothing to grieve.
