I was unfrozen this eval, this is how it turned out.

I'm sorry to read about the carriers doing extra unpaid work for the past year and change. Meanwhile at my office... we found out, as I expected, that many carriers were being overpaid by tens of thousands of dollars for the past year.

We had 8 routes drop to auxiliary, as low as 12H. In that specific case, I warned management that route was a piece of a route I used to sub on and it was a 30 minute piece of a 43j route under the old evaluation system so how could it be a 42j now?

My station had an auxiliary route where the district route cutting team dumped all the businesses that receive all the parcel volume. The auxiliary came out to almost 100 standard hours. Around 16 hours a day.

District knew this was a problem as soon as they did it because management was bringing in 5 subs a day and paying a total of 40 hours a day. I told management that's a 2 person job-- you're wasting money. They cut it down to 3 people being paid about 24 hours a day.

Anyway, I've been reading past posts and trying my best to understand what might happen at my station. If anybody can correct me, this is my understanding:

We had one route drop to 35H, so will that carrier be paid the 40 hour guarantee until next October of 2027, and if the route stays 35H-- then they will be paid only 35 after that unless it gets added onto?

And for the carriers on the auxiliary routes they will also get paid the 40 hour guarantee until the routes are adjusted? (which could take a couple months)

We have no vacancies within 50 miles. There is a high cost of lviving city 3 hours away with vacancies but none of these carriers can afford or want to move there.

This was intentional. In my area many offices had just lost most of their Amazon and then they rushed to cut them using the route data with old Amazon volumes still there. From my understanding our office fared better than others because the expert that came and did the cuts heavily favored mail volume data over the parcel data when cutting up the routes.
Routes were cut to 43k
5 new ones created 43k,40k,40k,44h, and an aux

Over time as people did mapping and addressed other problems with the interm sheets we ended up with only k routes and some were sitting at 48k. Again this was all still based on old data so of course most of the routes were not actually whatever the sheets said.

In the end we ended up with
two 45ks (one unchanged before and after)
one 43k
a spattering of 9 40-41ks
3 j routes
7 h routes
1 aux (went up 5 hours, only route to do so, no new growth here)

what blows my mind is how every route here went down except for an aux that was always vacant and run after the subs were done for the day. My route was unchanged but I'm pretty rigorous about scanning and taking things to the door when they are larger even if they technically fit in the box and paying attention to smaller details.

So how does every route decrease except for an aux that is never run properly? Luck or is something strange going on? Something we do in the scanners that is actually hurting us somehow that a sub in a rush wouldnt be entering? Its just a small neighborhood followed buy a small spattering of cbus and one road down and back.

Here is a novel idea... Why keep cutting to a 43 K? Why not a 45K? one bad count rrrrrrrr..... survey & your K rt is gone!! Economy isn't that good (have you noticed an increase in the number if credit card apps lately). Flats form a few years ago are gone & not coming back. Parcel volume is down--a product if the poor economic conditions we are having. Just a few thoughts...

Also why not just have the high option be available to everyone? Not everything needs to be gate kept based on seniority. So many people in my office are taking a huge pay cut, but hey they still have two days off a week!

For sure. Let everyone take the high option. The difference between a 46 j & a 42K is over 9k a year..top step table one. That can help
You on your high 3 for retirement.

Same in my office. Every route went down except our 12hr aux route which gained 2 hours up to 14hrs a week,

That route was aways ran by random RCAs or regulars after their own route. No one ever did scans, the edit book is never updated or mapping done. But somehow it was the only one to gain.

The reason that new 10 year wait was ADDED to contract was that $9k. Thousands the USPS is not paying at 150% or matching into your TSP or life insurance.

The legal accountants at USPS are pretty good on projections during negotiations...much better than our team in front of an arbitrator.

were yall just unfrozen? 🤔

Was a 48K in June 2025. Had route adjustments and lost around 350~ CBU and gained back about 170 curbside boxes. In my mind these about cancelled each other out but still lost enough to be brought down to a 43K. Grievance was filed about route mileage being miscalculated and route went back up to a 45K. Mail volume and parcel volume didn’t fluctuate at all in 15 months. Unfrozen this count and route dropped back to 43K. 51:01 - 1 minute over a 43K! Most routes in my office went down to around 40K or even J or H routes. Cannot wrap my head around what numbers matter and what doesn’t matter. Seems as if they’re using us a guinea pigs.

Your office story sounds basically word for word same as mine. Add in some dismounts being set to 0 feet on multiple routes in dpm and a couple interm sheets being sabotaged by a vacating postmaster resulting in two routes each losing a neighborhood to new routes (both of the affected routes are @ step 3 waiting for the new evals in our office). It's a good thing our aux went up 5 hours because it should at least make them high hs or mid js

They sure are good at making projections that get as much out of us as they can but they never seem to be able to balance the budget. Almost as if they view us as a piggy bank that deserves to be looted. Why dont supervisors and post masters have a table 2?

TSP is contributions and agency matching are based solely on your basic pay (regular salary), not on overtime pay. However a carrier would lose out on 50% had they been called in to work their day off
for that 9k you are working 26 more days..... it gets old real fast

That's my point. The 48 hour cap can seriously financially screw carriers. I've had routes that came back from counts 70 to 104 hours. Your pay is perpetually capped at 48 outside the 12 hour daily limit. And even then they get almost 2.4 hours a day free from you when you go over 12. The system is never friendly to the carrier.

AND a carrier has to be classified as overburdened. A carrier would have already performed the work at a lower pay rate in order to be classified. Because it appears we are stuck with this system, my beef is not knowing cwe. I think cwe would alliw carriers to balance performance with volumes. Why cant we be more hourly in this way and fluctuate with actual volumes? Give up the incentive for actually working through volumes and getting more relief and protection from excess volumes. I am certain we would get screwed in any scenerio, so if this was put gorth, how would we get screwed in that type of scenerio?
Probably also have to give up one relief per route (but haven't we basically given up on that already) also might have to give up OT for doing other routes.
Would high option go away? So be it....
I would prefer a solid 40 that I understood performance expectations then beyond 40 ,OT and penalty OT. I want a way to protect myself and have a future a functioning body and stressless mind. Let management manage the volumes how they want. I would prefer to go home and rest to prep for the next day. Why cant we work to help each other on this?

Mine also was unfrozen after over a year.

But we were cut right after we lost Amazon. None of us wanted to be cut and it obviously didn't make sense but they did it anyway. Our Postmaster tried to prevent it but they forced it through. I went from 150-200 packages to 60-80 most days.

So I was cut from a 47k to a 43k. My route came back as a 42J now. 2 other routes that were adjusted went down to J routes also. Another went down to a 42H.

But in positive news the 2hr aux route they made went up to 14hrs a week now !!!

If i read the formula right you would have to get what 30+boxes to get it back up to a 41k or so pending the volume factor etc. Cant remember what cbus are worth, im guessing a min a box or so?

totally agree
the current system is based upon the sacred RCA per route fantasy theory. they haven't had coverage in reliable numbers in 20 years. I've never understood the fear of giving up something you don't actually have.
every time negotiations came up, they start with a list and say, " well, we need to keep the RCA per route". and I'm over screaming from the other end of the room, " WHY????? USPS has no intention of ever fulfilling that. why not go for something better like increased OT options? or added annual? or anything that's something we can benefit from instead of a fantasy that has zero chance of occurring."

in effect, most offices now operate as a form of formal or non formulized formula office for relief. you are assigning value to dead currency.

USPS would like to do away with any high option. but, due to unstaffed relief core, they effectively have 6 days a week on their terms because they cite the lack of rcas. forcing carriers to work without the bump in wage that can affect high three and benefits.

nrlca needs to look much longer term at the breakdown of the craft and the already existing losses. call them a loss and move beyond them. stop trying to keep a paper term for the sake of history.

I was at a 52k in the spring of 2025, and was there the prior eval also. In May of 2025, I was cut and frozen at a 43K.

Results back today, 50K. 60:34 standard hour, just misted a 51K by 2 minutes.

Probably get cut and frozen again. Donated a bunch of free work to the post office already, looks like I will continue donating time for the foreseeable future.
I think you mean 52 standard hours, there is no 52k only goes to 48k. But either way a grievance. When you file, get the routes data for the year you where cut, you can prove you had 48k workload the whole time you where a 43k and get back pay.

NO, I mean 60:34 standard hour. If there was such a thing, I would be a 52K. Since the pay chart tops out at a 48K, That shows I have donated 4 [Edit ... not 4 but 7] hours a week the past year and going forward till the route is cut.
