New RCA not being paid properly.

There is a new RCA in our office on a 46K route. When he began working in the office (after orientation and shadow day, etc.) he was just delivering parcels for all of December. Last week he cased and delivered route. I was out sick the whole week, so he did the full route for 5 days. He ended up with approx. 64 hours. PM told him he is only getting the evaluated time.

He contacted the union today and he was told the 10 weeks start from orientation and it isn't training if he is on the route alone. According to the contract it states 10 weeks of actual time.

Does 10 weeks training pay start at orientation or when you are being trained on actual route?

Thanks

Is your Post Master a dishonest idiot, or just an idiot?

If the hours are transferred from the time sheet/4240 to TACS accurately it wouldn't matter,
you said the RCA had over 40 hours (aprox. 64 ) then the RCA gets paid actual time regardless if they were in the training period/first 10 weeks,
or not.

So if the approximately 64 hours don't get entered properly the Post Master/Idiot might want to start making new career plans like the Post Master/Supervisor Idiots had to in Richmond Virginia.

Did the Union Person they talked to,not tell them they get paid actual time after they exceed 40 hours regardless ? Really ?

The Pm had him sign out the evaluated time on 4240. He did not fill out green card for anything over evaluated time.

Holy crap. This is the biggest load of mgt crap. Telling him to LIE. Hells to the NO. This ass PM knows this guy doesn’t have 90 days in yet. Hmmmm. I would say that someone in the office should inform said PM that it has been reported by the stew to the inspection service about their actions just to see what happens. Sometimes these pompous asses summer the hell down as soon as you call them out. Firing for retaliation would be the worst possible thing mgt could do to cover it up. This person would probably get back pay when they are restored. Take no crap, suffer no abuse.

There is a fine line when working to or under evaluation, an informed RCA can adjust work habits based on their knowledge of the known scheduled work week! Just don't forget to include any Amazon time or other green card time that will added to the weekly total! If covering for an entire week (either 5 or 6 days) on a route while also delivering Amazon on Sunday you will never be able to stay under 40 hours for example so adjust accordingly! If you have planned personal activities for that week and can stay under 40 hours for the week than kill it and enjoy your activities while earning the evaluation! A good RCA that understands the system and how to beat it can do very well throughout the year.

Can we post this on the wall of Fame? Might be the best answer, ever!!!

Actual time or evaluation, whichever is greater, takes precedence when doing a route for the first time or after a 12 month gap in delivery. It's not just for the first 5 pay periods.

Perhaps you could start by disclosing the city and state of this office so no other RCA will be "available" to work there.
Seems the PM could use some exercise to clear up his/her foggy mental state.

Many RCA's after getting screwed out of pay become statistics - (FORMER RCA's)

Is this RCA going to be our HERO for standing up to a tyrant, or just another statistic ?

What say you gemini68 ?

I wish I had some news to share. The RCA posed the question to district rep. about the actual/evaluated hours he's entitled to during training. He then presented page 20 of contract to pm. I do not know what the outcome was to that conversation. Pm is currently on vacation until next week.

Our local steward is back from vacation and RCA will hopefully be speaking with her about the 4240 issue. I will get in touch with RCA and let you know what happens.

Thanks for all the input.
