PTF

Saturday was the first day for our newly appointed PTF. I get in this morning and notice they're listed as Designation 79 on every 4240 in the office.

Is this correct? I would have thought they would only be listed for the K routes, not the J's and H's.

What do you mean by “listed”?

They should not be listed on all of them BUT... The RCA or PTF listed on the 4240 means nothing. Our 4240s haven’t been correct for years. As long as the Matrix list is correct is all that matters. The Matrix & Seniority lists should always be posted in the office.

PTFs are to run their String routes AND can be scheduled over a Secondary or Tertiary if mgmt needs to. Our PTFs have 4 routes to their String so bumping doesn’t happen.

The PTF should be listed on their string of routes only.

*sigh*

That's what I figured. I don't think their Designation code is right either. I wonder if they ever received a new form 50

We have no other subs. The only 2 RCAs we have are on Aux rts and because we're formula, they are 6 days. They're not listed on the matrix

-- Manglement is using the wrong Designation as "79" is for RCA's after being assigned to an AUX for more than 90 days.

-- Designation "76" is for RCA's appointed to a PTF position ( career ) and are assigned to K-routes, but can be utilized where ever needed.

If they didn't, there would be no pay raise or blue career benefits book sent.

4240 - at least that's the way it was done in our office. Don't know what right looks like on this.

Hopefully, HR got the Designation codes right. Doesn’t really matter what mgmt puts on the 4240s. They make up the hours & can change the RCA on them at will. Aux RCAs do not have a Matrix but are listed on their primaries. PTFs also do not have a Matrix since they have 2-5 Primary routes.

@gotstamps @btdtret
So we have one PTF for the two K's.
One of the K's and an H route is on vacation this Saturday. The RCAs on the Aux routes have hold downs (per formula) but they are going to split the H route this Saturday. The PTF is working the K. This Saturday is my J day. PM tells me today I have to work, she doesn't have coverage.

We don't have a seniority list. We've never had a matrix.

I just read through Article 30 again and it seems I'm pretty much screwed in having to work. Really ticks me off she decides to tell me today.

There's probably a valid reason, but wondering why a regular route couldn't have been built.

John Winger -- "We don't have a seniority list. We've never had a matrix."

-- Let your Assistant District Representative know.

-- Grieve for not having both lists.

-- Step 4 ( S-22 - Seniority Tie Breaker ) in part: Management WILL promptly review all rural carrier SENIORITY LISTS.

-- Search for "matrix" in RI's KNOWLEDGEBASE Section. Q & A on the Matrix. In part: The Matrix MUST be posted in each office.

Unfortunately, you will be working. We don’t get our schedule here until Wednesday & things change between then & Saturday if mgmt forgot a Leave approved. There is no real set time for mgmt scheduling but it should be by Wednesday prior so Tuesday is timely. Mgmt can notify a Carrier for the next day if necessary but shouldn’t be habitual.
As BT stated, a Matrix & Seniority list should be posted although it doesn’t sound as if you have any RCAs for Secondary routes. When speaking to your Union Rep about that, bring up the fact that there’s an H-route with multiple Auxiliaries. They’ll want to check into that.

Out of curiosity - what's with the H and aux routes?

Typically mgmt would build the H to a K route with the Aux route unless it’s a different zip code. Also, don’t typically have multiple Aux routes in one office unless different zips.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. There is no converting an H to a K. There are 2 Ks, 1 J, and 1 H.
The 2 Aux routes are different zip codes.

3 delivery zips? That could be a headache!
We have 2 plus PO Box zip & a major business that got their own.

We actually have 4 zips in our office. An office that is WAY TOO SMALL. Since Amazon started it's gotten to the point where on heavy days - Mondays, holidays, and days after holidays - half of the carriers are literally blocked in to their area. Tubs stacked and packages all over, leaving only 18" for a walkway. It's ridiculous.

-- Time for anonymous call to the local fire department or even better, OSHA, requesting they "drop in" on a Monday or a day after a holiday.

Every 1767 that has been filed never left the office. I'm going to submit one to the safety officer. I hope I'm sending it to the right office haha.
