So does any office out there have any arcs? Our office has been trying for over a year to hire one. Finally got one who lasted 2 weeks, she resigned, hired on as an rca, lasted a month or so, resigned, and hired on as a cca. All in 3 different offices. How is this possible?
The latest big issue in our area seems to be coverage for Amazon Sundays. Used to have clerks come in to the hub, scan packages into various routes and number them in delivery order and give the carriers turn by turn directions. No more! Now no more clerks. Just 2 or 3 ccas doing the sorting. All they do is pile the packages by town. It's up to the carriers to scan them in by route and in order.
No subs want to do this anymore. The ones that show are doing 2 or more routes at times, 9 to 10 hr days with upwards of 160 pkgs which don't all fit in the llv necessitating more than 1 trip from the hub.
A lot of disgruntled ccas/rcas. But no arcs! It's like they are ghosts. Anyway,
This method is unsustainable. Our rca is fed up and thinking of quitting. She knows all 6 routes and has been here 5 years. It would be a big loss. Any other offices running into this problem?

as far as RCAs having to scan and route their own packages that sounds like clerk work to me. However, i've complained about Amazon myself and the response here is always "Amazon sunday rules are not the same as your monday thru saturday rules". So basically we can be forced to do anything on sundays and there is nothing we can do about it.

How is the clerk union not all over this for the CCAs doing "clerk" work? Usually they grieve stuff like this to hell and back and get paid for all the hours that the CCAs worked in their place. And their union will file for them even if no local clerk complains; the steward just needs to know about it. As far as no ARCs, if they were any good they were talked into going to the city side a long time ago. Same thing with the RCAs. "Move over to the city side with the better benefits , more hours, and you'll be a regular sooner. So, yeah, there are no ARCs here either.

We have no ARCs but our RCAs detest being sent an hour away to do Amazon and at least three quit entirely because of it; three who have hung on or hired in when it was part of the deal grumble about quitting because of it too.

We have only one ARC. We have lost two RCA's due to Amazon, one quit the other transferred to a non-Amazon P.O.

Never trust anything management tells you.

(I have no experience with Amazon Sunday, but I've had plenty of experience with management lies.)

If you're still on probation, yes you're kinda screwed. If through probation, start filing grievances whenever you are crossing crafts. They pulled the BS of having RCA's running city routes. Grievances filed and problem disappeared.

I do the Amazon Sunday City Routes. They are vastly superior/safer/easier than doing a rural Amazon route - no driveways, houses are marked, can stop for food/restroom easily, cell service.... How is that BS? Grievances regarding who runs an Amazon Route AFAIK were all lost as they are not Craft Routes and USPS Products are not delivered.

On Sundays, there is not supposed to be the City/Rural division. That’s why it cannot be grieved by either Union for CCAs or RCAs to run the other’s Mon-Sat territory.

The grievance should be that you are being underpaid to run the Amazon Sunday/holiday routes when the CCA next to you is being paid more for the same work and possibly in the same area as an Rca.

Actually, it sailed back when we became “Urban” Rural Carriers doing the exact same job as the City Craft. We should get paid more since there really is no need to “micromanage” us. ?

A bit off-topic but one thing that burns my insides daily is the fact that Rural Craft obviously moves more product per Labor hours than City Craft - Like... massively more - Yet our compensation is weaker. It isn't our fault that City Craft hasn't evolved to all mounted routes to match our productivity; nor have they offered to supply PoVs to aid in delivery of mail.

The mail that went out with the "8 hour" City Route in my office today didn't even fill 1/3 of a U-boat. Only 3 Bundles, 1 tray of DPS, and maybe 10 parcels including small (Fedex-UPS delivers in town). There is a CVS in town that has a scan point after 4 PM so that Career City Carrier MILKS each day until after 4 PM.

This should be talking point #1 from NRLCA to USPS.

I used to think the NRLCA was just being incompetent as I watched our standards and pay being eroded over the decades.
Now I believe they have allowed this to happen, to make sure the USPS gives territory to rural rather
than city delivery, because we are so much cheaper.
That way, the membership pool for the NRLCA goes up, so they have more dues money to spend.

That's what people are talking about when they say they're in bed together.

This is purely my opinion, based on what I have witnessed.

The conditions we work under make it hard to keep any rural carriers, regulars, RCAs, ARCS, all
seem to be bailing.

When did that change occur? Does that mean rurals can also clerk on Sunday? I knew CCA's couldn't grieve but never heard about a change for Rural.

It was never a rule. Most mgmt never read the how-to for Sundays aside from Amazon routing. Amazon Routing doesn’t split City, Rural, or zip code.
I don’t know the Clerks Contract so I can’t say if they should be working or not. Our ARCs & RCAs do the pitching on Sundays here.
There is nothing in our Contract about our RCAs not being able to “Cross Crafts”. They do, however, have the right to a Rural Route on Mondays- Saturdays. Doing other duties should be Voluntary if not scheduled in Rural Craft work on those days.

I know nothing about it, but I figure I may be forced in one day, with all
the RCAs bailing. (I don't blame them.)

It sounds like there are no repercussions for management for what happens on Sunday.
