PM says I don't get paid for this.

So I'm an RCA and today I walked in to part of the route not being delivered.

We have a newer RCA and I guess yesterday my PM told him to stop delivering at 8PM and come back. I ran all his big packages for his route and ran packages for other routes that day but was told to leave at about noon. So I don't really know why he didn't get it all delivered outside of just being new and not getting help.

In any case I had small packages and the mail he didn't deliver left over which I took to the street and worked out of 2 trays along with the mail from today. I conservatively estimated that it added about 25 minutes to running the route. A lot of the packages were marked wrong and the mail wasn't cased very well causing me to double back a couple of times.

When I got back and asked how I get paid for it my PM says that I don't. He said he would Email Labor to ask but he was 99% sure I don't get paid.

This is a small 7 hour H route and I worked 7.5 hours today so it did cause me to go over by 25-30mins. Most days I run this route in around 6 hours easily.

I actually showed my PM that after she said I wouldn't get paid and she said was going to "look into it".

I just got a text that after supposedly a couple hours of research she agreed that I should get paid for it but she doesn't know where to enter it into the computer.

Sometimes I wonder if this job is worth it.

Jacob6875 et al -- "I actually showed my PM that after she said I wouldn't get paid [ for cleaning up a mess left on a route from the previous day ] and she said was going to "look into it" [ Full Day's Releif ].

-- Contact your Assistant District Representative about the PM's "look into it" response.

-- Maybe the ADR can visit the office and assist the PM in comprehending the Full Day's Relief Step 4.

-- BTW, you may just have created a larger target on your back by showing manglememt you know about Step 4's.

-- Then again, manglement will give you a wide berth from now on.

"I just got a text that after supposedly a couple hours of research she agreed that I should get paid for it but she doesn't know where to enter it into the computer."

-- Hopefully the ADR can show the PM about pay data entries.

-- Or a call to the District Office informing them your PM is unfamiliar with pay entry issues.

-- Good luck.

She should enter it as green card time. You performed work in excess of what was included in that day's evaluation. Yesterday's work is not part of today's evaluated hours. Most likely auxiliary assistance.

Freaking amazing!
She had no problem paying you to run packages on multiple routes the previous day but can't figure out how to pay you for a half an hour on a day you carried the whole route. Really? It's not rocket surgery, where do they find these people.

Jacob6875 -- "So happy ending to this saga. My boss apparently emailed our districts Labor department and they decided I do in fact get paid for it so I don't need to file a grievance over it after all. "

-- Don't get your hopes up about not having to file a greivance.

-- If the pay for cleaning up the route is not in the next pay check, file the grievance.

-- And another if manglement says, "It will be in the next one." and it isn't.
