Yes I learned my REAL scheduled day off is Saturday. My current day off is Thursday. Long story short is my relief supervisor did our schedule while our regular supervisor is off/vacation, she used a few year old schedule from her email to do our schedule. Where the email came from or who sent it her I don’t know since she won’t tell or show me. She is probably using a untampered schedule sheet. Since I haven’t changed my day off in over 10 yrs which is Thursday which caught me off guard. My current supervisor must have tampered with my day off.?

I am on this route for the past 16 yrs and my day off has always been Thursday. My route fluctuate between J and K because i didn’t have my 10 yrs seniority to choose high option due to Clarke decisions(?). Because changing from K route to J route I automatically got Saturday off. Am I correct? And this was before the arbitrator who make that 10 yr requirement decision.

Due to the existence of the email, a digital trail. How can I find out if my REAL day is Saturday? And Who do I ask? So basically if management won’t honor my request to switch to a Saturday off.

Are you a J route currently? There should be a posting in your office that has the current formula listings.

They post ours right next to the schedule. It gets updated periodically as Saturdays change due to RCA's leaving or when regulars retire. J routes do get every other Saturday. Other k routes can get Saturday's if there's enough available and is mutually agreeable with management. Ask where you can look at the formula spreadsheet. It will list the current Saturday relief days and non Saturday relief days along with a breakout of who is on each day. @WestCoastRural

WestCoastRural -- "I am on this route for the past 16 yrs. "

-- By that I guess you mean you were on the route in question also as an RCA, but not for 10 years as a regular?

"My route fluctuate between J and K because i didn’t have my 10 yrs seniority to choose high option due to Clarke decisions(?). "

-- Yes, it was Arbitrator Clarke who changed the ability to take the High Option to 10 years as a regular with the 2010-2015 "award". Prior to that award, one had to be in the 6- or 8-hour leave earning per pay period category.

" Because changing from K route to J route I automatically got Saturday off."

-- Not necessarily. I had a K route and a Wednesday relief day. After a particularly bad count, had to go the High Option J route to avoid a big loss of $. Kept the Wednesday relief day. I didn't ask to keep it and manglement didn't ask if I wanted a Saturday relief day.

-- When did this change take place?

-- When the change from a K to a J route occurred, one of two things should have happened:

- you should have told manglement that you wished to keep the Thursday relief day, or
- manglement should have asked if you desired to continue with the Thursday relief day.

-- In a formula office, J routes "normally" are assigned a Saturday relief day.

-- Step 4 ( R-92 ) in part: IF mutually agreeable to both the postmaster and the employee, the employee's relief day may be changed.

-- Step 4 ( R-92.70 ) in part: Pursuant to POM 633.13, when relief days are authorized on K and J routes, they should be granted on Saturday UNLESS another day is desired by the carrier and is MUTUALLY agreeable to the postmaster and carrier.

"Due to the existence of the email, a digital trail. How can I find out if my REAL day is Saturday? And Who do I ask? So basically if management won’t honor my request to switch to a Saturday off."

-- A bit confused now! Do you want to have a relief day on Saturday or Thursday?

-- Back to the beginning.

- did the new supervisor personally advise you of the change of relief days or did you catch the schedule change yourself?

- Article 30.1.G. in part: The rural carrier WILL receive "reasonable" advance notice when the schedule is to be changed. When the Employer changes the relief day of the regular carrier in accordance with Article 9.2.C.5.d.(2) and 9.2.C.5.e, the carrier WILL receive notice of the change no later than the Saturday of the service week PRECEDING the effective week of the change. ( possible grievance? Check with your ADR )

-- Hopefully the regular supervisor will not be gone long and will be able to straighten things out upon return to the office.

If what you said is true then I am not in a formula office even though we all have different days thru out the week. Reg below me has Saturday off so we are not. My bad.

-- This is all based without any idea what your office situation is regarding route classifications.

-- Manglement may have hinted that the Formula Office was coming, so if anyone wants to "voluntarily" select a T-W-Z relief day, their route will be "allowed" to grow to 53 to 55 standard hours.

-- If an office has a large number of carriers with relief days spread out during the week, that is usually a sign of a Formula Office. as usually carriers will fight for a Saturday relief day.

-- The regular below you may have bid on a route that already had a Saturday relief day.

Ahhhh.... that’s where my argument comes from because the relief supervisor used a schedule from her email therefore she doesn’t know our days off so all those data are virgin. Hadn’t I go to verify the NEW day off, she had no idea. Had she used an old schedule from my supervisor then I would find the mistake because it would have been changed to Thursday.

This is pretty much the same scenario as your except I saw a virgin copy. I understand they don’t want people to take Saturday off because ppl would request those day off/holiday and prey on your lack of knowledge.

I am a 15 yrs regular on this route 1 yr on another ( my bad). I have read somewhere that all J route are Saturday off. And since this came before the Clark decision so I would guess in 2009. The schedule I saw was about 3 yrs old based on carriers movement so I was probably kept in the dark for 10 years.

It certainly be interesting to see the regular supervisor.

He took my old route when I came to the current route I am on.

Our office has the feel of a formula office based on what I read on the PO-603 but they certainly don’t follow the rule.
