Parcel Assistance

Hi. Does your office have parcel help, and if so what is your procedure? Does everyone get help? Is there an organized system set up in your office?

Speaking as an RCA, in my office, RCAs are scheduled to work during the Christmas season to make early morning runs of parcel only. It has been pretty well structured. We have 9 rural routes. The subs are rotated through, based on availability. So we mainly work every other day and one of the weekend days. Each working sub takes about 3 routes worth of parcel and it is mainly the same number of parcels from each route. The PM runs the parcels through the system and we use the copilot feature and a manifest, just like on Amazon days, to run the parcels. We only take a portion of the parcel from each route, not ALL the packages. Usually only the packages that are larger that the regular would have to dismount for. It is all figured so that we come in at around 5:30 am and run the parcel till around 10 am, so that we can use the LLVs. Only down side, is it is usually really cold and dark, but most have gotten themselves headlamps. Good feature to this is that the customers are usually home to get their parcels safely...and most porch pirates aren't up that early! Also, on paper days, we are asked to put up the newspapers for the regulars after we return. All this goes on a green card. If works out well as long as all the trucks make it back without a problem and no one calls out for some reason.

Since safety depends on you, suggest that peeps invest $15 in gett8ng a neon vest to be seen.
They are lightweight...buy a huge one so you can easily slip it over your coats. When I worked, I bought mine at Dunham’s
Sporting goods. Good investment, be seen!

I’m told this is how my office operates during the Christmas season. I’m actually looking forward to working in my office and not having to commute to others every week. Not looking forward to waking up at 4am!

Interesting. Less than 12 hours after this thread posted / started, got a bulk text from PM asking for volunteers for Tuesday 11/12. Day after Veterans Day. Tuesday 11/12 day after Veterans Day sorry

To all RCA's, including Aux carriers. I asked for details. Response: 2 hours, maybe more depending on volume.

What's the policy on who gets called in? Senior RCA gets called in to run packages? Last year a sub below me got all the work because he literally runs. Steward trying to ask me which 3 routes he delivered packages for, im like I dont know i wasnt there. I'm sure its mixed between a bunch if routes

I am the senior rca and this was a "volunteer list".

I declined volunteering, 2 or even up to 4 1/2 hours won't work for me.

If you are getting done under evaluation with parcel help, you will not get any this year. This will be nationwide this year. Was done in certain districts including mine last year.
So what if you don't get done? Do the slow pokes get help while others don't?

What do you mean 'Tuesday 04/12'?
