Parcel Assistance

If you are getting done under evaluation with parcel help, you will not get any this year. This will be nationwide this year. Was done in certain districts including mine last year.
That's the base of our parcel help. Only if not going to make the truck, and MUST come in after time on 4240

Obviously time to ssssslllllloooowwww down
I slow way down in the dark.
I can't see in the dark.
If I have lights on in the vehicle, I can't see outside the vehicle.
If I turn light off in vehicle, I need to let my eyes adjust to the darkness.
If I dismount, most of my route is not well lit, no street lights.
Will my stalker be waiting for me in the dark?

Get a couple of sheets of red cellophane and rubber band it over the dome light in an LLV. Adjust the number of layers to adjust the light level. Red light won't impact your night vision nearly as much - maybe not at all.

In a POV something similar can probably be rigged but it would be vehicle dependent.

We use to get help day after holiday if needed, now the rca's have "things to do" and no one wants the Christmas package hrs but whine that they arent getting hrs smh... but dont want to work a whole week either so I guess we know who is running the show in our office.

I use a small hand held flashlight, easier on and off and less light. Will try the cellophane on that.
Thanks!

Headlamps are a saving grace! I got mine on ......yeah, Amazon. It flashes red, orange and has a nice white light and definitely is worth the money. I believe it was under $20. Wears like a headband. It’s these little things that are the big things in a rural carriers life. Invest.✌️

If you use an LLV, turn on the cargo light not the dome light, this will result in much less glare off the windshield.
I use ball caps with built in lights in the visor, this can be turned on & off very quickly and are light weight for your head. They offer exceptional vison lighting your way for delivering packages to the door!

We have gotten parcel help over Xmas for as long as I can remember. I even get help and I have no issues making it back in time, ever. When I was a sub, I ran the parcels for all 3 routes everyday over the Xmas period. This year not looking like we will even need any help. Our Amazon has dropped well over 50% over the last month. I was delivering between 125-175 every day (200+ on Monday's), now I'm lucky if I do 100 ANY day.....had 55 the last 2 Tuesday's. And we've had Amazon delivering in our area for awhile now....guess they're taking em all now........

Try this one, RCAs want to work the days after Holidays....management and clerks don't want to come in, besides it saves the office money, wear and tear on trucks, and the upper levels get their day off. Day after the Holiday, its all about the stress of leaving mail and getting back early so you can put it up when you get back off route. Honestly, can't make this stuff up!!!

All the while, getting more business lead drums beat for more money for managements pockets, while us carriers struggle with overloaded vehicles dragging the ground with no help in sight while plumes of fiery cuss words spew from the PM's mouth! It's not the lack of volume we are delivering, it's the lack of revenue on this volume that is killing us, all you stupid rate setting management Baffoons!

I have a good friend who attends the local green card fairs at citizenship office. She does pretty well getting interest from the Islanders and some African Nationals to work for us. She said they seem to accept our "fluid, not rigid" working conditions better than some other cultures due to their own experiences with the Chaos Of daily life at home. They are more go with the flow and expect things to pop up a day/skew a work day.

You can buy small flashlights that come with colored lenses but the cellophane would work as well.

In a POV one might try replacing the map and/or dome lights with red LEDs.

One can find people like that everywhere. I used to manage a store for Autozone and we had an employee that always complained they weren't making enough money but I rarely recall a closing where she didn't ask to go home early. Go figure.
