Virtual Entry Assessment 477

I took this for an RCA job awhile back and failed it. So that meant I couldn’t take it again for a year for a RCA job. Now I’m going to take it for a PSE job. I’ve heard it’s all common sense, but I have common sense. It seemed like there were more than one correct answer to me. And there was a section of completely agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree or completely disagree.
Seemed like a lot of opinion to me. I’ll take any tips anyone might have.

It's a personality test.

They want good communists. If you make the ultimate sacrafice for the good of the company. Then you should be able to pass.

For example: even if you are sick, you should come to work. Agree, or disagree? Agree, you are a good worker. Disagree and you aren't willing to sacrafice "for the greater good"

I don't have any idea of what is on the test now. When I took the test it was basic math I believe about 40% and vocabulary about 80%. Almost nothing to do with being a Rural Letter Carrier. I don't see how our jobs can be broken down to a written test.

I assume that the test is more for preventing management from hiring any person they want to than finding good quality employees. However, this alone may be good reason to have this system.

No offense but...

Basic math 40% & Vocabulary 80% ???

Basic math???

Deer smearer et al -- "Basic math 40% & Vocabulary 80% ??? "

-- Must be that new fangled math I keep hearing about.

-- Or for folks who want to give a 120% effort while working for the USPS.

Have someone else take it for you !

Former RCA -- "I took this for an RCA job awhile back and failed it. So that meant I couldn’t take it again for a year for a RCA job. I’ll take any tips anyone might have."

-- Could be Karma telling you to seek employment elsewhere other than with the USPS.

I once heard being right 97% of the time is good enuf, because nobody cares about the other 4% anyways....

I was taught you can be right a lot less that that.

The trick is that you repeat the part you got right and try again with the part you did not get right.

I think the problem is that the leadership the the Postal Service and the NRLCA don't know which witch which.

Could be wrong, but I think the major difference between the 473 and the 477 is that the 477 includes some math.

As I understand it, the best way to fail either of those tests is to try to "game" the character assessment portion of the test. The best way to pass the character assessment portion is to read the question and answer honestly. Not how you think you should respond, not how you think they want you to respond, just answer honestly to the best of your ability. Psychologists have been working on and writing these assessments for a long, long time, they'll spot somebody trying to game their test in a New York minute.

I don't remember any psychological part of the test I took. However, it was long time ago.

I always think that General Patton, the world war II general could not get a job of general today. I think it unlikely he could pass the psychological part of his job.

I thought they were weeding out the short end of the stick(mental) because they know how abusive the PO is and don't want anymore future "going postal" to tarnish their fine reputation.
