Food drive question

I literally copy and pasted from an email the former labor relations person sent out. How is that spreading false information. Because you don’t like the truth?

What the hell is efyl, this is not something I can find on NRLCA member links and/or Liteblue.

What was quoted only mentions pick ups from the mailbox. Comprehensive guide and all MDD RRECS entry guides still state CARRIERPU is used when picking up a parcel from a request (online, handwritten) OR when it is 2lbs or over prepaid in a mailbox. [keyword OR - this is legal language that separates the two clauses meaning the 2lbs does not apply to the first clause]

You will have to prove Verbatim there is a blanket ONLY 2lbs and over. Which doesn't make sense anyway given the engineers' report and explanation for the time credits; also instances where a carrier may be handling hundreds of under 2lb parcels for 1 pickup.

EFYI isn’t something the average carrier will see. It’s distributed to NSS employees.

If go to the door for pickups, you still do whatever you need to. You’re still only going to get credit for anything over 2 lbs. Any other time credits are handled during EOS if you’re doing something like applying postage or having to scan in multiple barcodes for pre paid acceptance.

Are you 100pct sure CARRIERPU will not give the credits outlined in the comprehensive guide when the barcode(s) read under 2lbs? Even when done at the doorstep, picking up and walking/moving small parcels into the back of a metris without a carrier pickup request barcode.

When the District Rep says they’re right, just how far do you think that will go? The NALC food drive gives me Tourette’s when I discuss it, so I’ll stop now.
The DR is wrong. The new director of labor relations was clear: it’s voluntary. Always has been. What are they gonna do, drive your route to see if you picked up stuff?

This is only partially correct by the Engineer's intentions.

Anytime a pick-up event happens that has the carrier DISMOUNT (note in mailbox to get parcels at door, pickup request with a barcode instructing to pickup at a location outside of vehicle, and/or an item that needs to be loaded to the rear of the vehicle), a CARRIERPU Scan should be used; regardless of weight. This could be a customer who sends out 50-100 small little packages that cannot fit in their mailbox but weight less than 2lbs each. [I have one such customer on my route with a tshirt company and they cannot always put in a pickup request].

Read the RRECS guide that spells out what the CARRIERPU Scan is assuming a carrier is doing. IF a carrier is doing that on the route - then they should have no issues using CARRIERPU Scan and defending themselves in a grievance.

The main thing CARRIERPU gives in credit is Dismount time.

If a small item is in the mailbox with the flag up and does not require a Dismount to accept; then yes, management can claim that using CARRIERPU is wrong in that instance because the carrier did not Dismount and should not be given a dismount credit through RRECS. < This is what was argued and why the Engineer's stated that the PO needed to give Carriers the CARRIERPU option for anything 2lbs or OVER in case they needed to load it into the back of the vehicle. This, however, does not change the fact that if a carrier DISMOUNTS to accept ANY POSTAL PRODUCT on the route they are to receive a CARRIERPU credit.
If you have a myPO pickup request form , then weight does not matter . You can only scan 5 anyway . But numbers you put in that gets credited ( or should get credit ) about 9.5 secs per piece . If you have large numbers then definitely exceeds the credit for going there , prelim and concluding, walking . H scan is for informational and administrative purposes. If you don’t have the request form , you will not get any credit if it is under 2 lbs ( it was the case all along — preRRECS with RRrecs ) . I am assuming part of barcode encodes the weight

Yes, we have. The carrier pickup credits small pieces at 9 seconds per item since mou.

It's best they have local DR clarify if mgmt is curious. Or mgmt can actually train their employees to standards.
I believe you are on the wrong here . Since mou , any pieces gets that credit after inserting the total numbers on the prompt. But only if it is part of the official pickup . Official pick up is when you have a request form

none of my customers ever do a pickup form.

i received credit under old mail count and also RRECs for those pickups.

i say no for the form, input how many, scan.

for those who leave packages and money, i say no for form, input how many, then it asks something like does the package have a barcode, no, you sure you wanna do this? yes.

imesho, "they" added the "does the package have a barcode" for precisely this reason. truly rural routes have truly rural people. many without computers. so they leave money and package, like they always have.

all i know is i received credit for pick ups.

Again, please refer to carrier pickup on reference material at nrlca.org or confirm with your DR. One need not have a print out request from office for credit.
I'm not discussing the main issue of food drive, just carrier pickup.

I feel like no one has read the RRECS guide I posted. It’s straight from the site. We have never been paid for parcels under two pounds. We aren’t now either.
