NALC and USPS reach tentative agreement

Looks like about 8% instant for most regulars depending on step and table.
The $21.21 for cca’s is an unbelievable joke, I can’t believe they’re serious with that.
I would vote no if I were city.
I always vote no, I want arbitration, not a drunk idiot making negotiations, or a mentally ill conman like we have.

This agreement is stunning--and devastating to the other crafts (like us) who are currently negotiating. I don't know how the NALC justifies negotiating for 20 months to get nothing of any significance in this new agreement (the elimination of a few lowest steps on Table 2? Is that a win?) They might as well have just changed the dates on the old agreement and signed that 20 months ago.

I have to share this story: There was an RCA hired last month for my office who was told during orientation by the city carrier Instructor (in my district, orientation is held together for both crafts, with a city carrier conducting it) that CCAs would be getting a 20% increase in pay with the new contract, and she should jump ship. She did.

ETA: I’m not advocating that RCAs should jump ship, merely sharing a story that shows the expectations of this contract and what some city carriers believed would be in the new contract.

I have info that they’re also getting new pay tables of some sort. We’ll have to see tomorrow when the details are released.
I heard there would be a “sizable raise” in addition to what was listed in the memo.
Keep us informed of what you find out as it may reflect what we will get, Thanks.

All said and done, it's a pretty big oof.

20 month wait for what is, essentially, a continuation of the previous contract, with an extra grand a year thrown in. It's still going to leave city carriers a good 20% behind competitors like UPS in general take home wages. And it's not like the NRLCA ever outperforms the NALC at the negotiating table.

I kind of hope the city carriers vote this down. It's not like they could get anything functionally worse at arbitration; without suffering a full collapse of the craft.

It wears on you not getting any pay or COLA increases for a couple of years.... especially in periods of high inflation like we've been in for a while now.... I recall this from 2012.... USPS uses this to their advantage with these contract delays.... so now will city side want to wait another year to see what they might get from an arbitrator.... will be interesting to see.... 🤷‍♂️👉🧐

USPS has absolutely set the table with this big NALC nothing burger.... the other unions should expect the same or less than what NALC got.... and might as well like it.... thank you, sir, may I have another....🤷‍♂️👉(n)💩

Now that's how a Real Union informs its Members of what is included in the Tentative Agreement. This was an excellent review and to me it's sounded like substantial gains were achieved. This is one area of the tentative Agreement that jumped out at me.

Retroactive (Back-pay) Provisions

Note: Letter carriers who have retired since the expiration of the 2019-2023 National Agreement will also receive back pay from USPS and will have their annuities retroactively adjusted by the Office of Personnel Management.

This is something that I don't believe we have ever received when dealing with Retroactive payments. We have always received the Retroactive Monies' owed but Not the Retroactive Time. For example a NALC future Retiree will now have those 20 months earning of the higher Retroactive Dollars used towards the 20 months of their High 3 Years. If you look at your Annuity Estimate we currently don't get that. We get the Money as of the Contracts Agreement, including the Retro but not the Time that was covered back to the Contracts expiration. In the case of the NALC the 20 Month wait for a person working their High 3's thats 56% of that time that was shorted that higher wage.

Toothless vs. unions with real chompers...

"The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 751 said on Saturday that it had received "a negotiated proposal and resolution to end the strike" with the help of Acting US Secretary of Labor Julie Su.

It said members would vote on Wednesday on the contract deal, which includes a 35% general wage increase spread over four years, a one-time ratification bonus of $7,000 , and enhanced contributions to 401(k) retirement plans."

What bothers me the most (being on table 2), every contract, every cola, every gwi the difference in salary between table 1 and table 2 INCREASES due to the proportional BS. A fair contract should reduce the disparity between the two pay tables and bring us closer together, not just at the last step.
