This agreement is stunning--and devastating to the other crafts (like us) who are currently negotiating. I don't know how the NALC justifies negotiating for 20 months to get nothing of any significance in this new agreement (the elimination of a few lowest steps on Table 2? Is that a win?) They might as well have just changed the dates on the old agreement and signed that 20 months ago.
I have to share this story: There was an RCA hired last month for my office who was told during orientation by the city carrier Instructor (in my district, orientation is held together for both crafts, with a city carrier conducting it) that CCAs would be getting a 20% increase in pay with the new contract, and she should jump ship. She did.
ETA: I’m not advocating that RCAs should jump ship, merely sharing a story that shows the expectations of this contract and what some city carriers believed would be in the new contract.
NALC's president has/had multiple charges for his handling of their negotiation. Just had more charges brought a few days ago I belive.
