Doctor's Appointment Christmas Eve

I work in a small office with 3 routes and one sub. One regular is taking off Christmas eve with a "wounded warrior" VA appointment leaving three people to cover three routes with no parcel help. Is this even possible? Can people take sick leave or whatever that is on Christmas eve?

Yes, they can take Sick Leave whenever it’s needed. If their appt is Christmas Eve, then it is what it is. Even if a Regular gets sick while on Vacation, hey have the right to change the days they were ill from Annual Leave to Sick Leave.

You would be surprised how many doctors schedule stuff on Xmas day. My neighbor called me laughing that they were scheduled for a colonoscopy appt on Xmas day. Yeah, not happening he said. Gastro doc didn’t care, he is Jewish. Lmfao over that one.

Stuff happens no matter what day it is. You are being brain washed by management! No sick days on Mondays, Fridays, days before or after relief days, before or after Holidays, then when you need a sick day on any other day they want a doctors note! They are intimidating and bullying us not to use our own earned leave! Get it! And management is trying to make us feel guilty for using it and making us feel responsible for not having enough help to back us up when we need a day off. Sorry, but staffing and scheduling is MANAGEMENT'S RESPONSIBILITY!!!

Yet, how many Managers have you seen take 2 years sick time? Then retire.
I think my observation is 95%

My 1st Postmaster made it into a USPS calendar celebrating those with 1000s & 1000s of Sick Leave hours banked. M6 current PM has a ton of SL now & rarely takes any Leave. I’m not sure about the PM that was between these 2 but I recall him never taking leave.
