‘Unscanned’ option, what constitutes a ‘parcel?’

Yes it has been like this for decades, and letters in our automated flats have been letters for decades, yet now they are FLATS. There is no probably in Rrecs, it is or it isn’t, engineers rarely leave things to chance.
The difference here is that we won’t be piece-counting what is tallied by computers at the plant. This is the reason that fletters in the tub will count as flats. The machine counts everything in DPS as a letter & everything in the tub a flat.
The definition of each has yet to change, we just won’t correct where the machine counts anymore.

When letters are now flats the definition of those letters have been CHANGED.

Maybe DR meant....now, every day is mailcount. Almost all the work we currently do every day ( and have done since June 19,2021) is being recorded toward our future evaluation. There are some things they have to count in the mini mail counts that are not able to be captured any other way.
Yes, you are correct, it is crazy stuff.
That makes sense!!!

Been like this for decades & will probably remain this way. At least if it has a scan, we no longer have to argue it’s category.
21 years ago, our union argued about the post office and the rural craft having different measurements for mailcount and postage... arbitraitor told the post office that they needed to address it. still waiting

The Engineers have calculated a TEMPORARY Credit that will be used for routes that are not Mapped before the Mini Mail Counts. It is said that it favors the Carrier.
but what if you're a 46J, not mapped, and this temp. credit knocks you to a low 43K. Alot less money. That seems grievable because if you were mapped you might very well have done better.

I think we are over thinking things. Cast out the old way the old testament I call it. In the new testament everything is different. If its in my hamper or once and awhile in a flat tub it's a parcel as far as I'm concerned by rrecs. What needs to be focused on is whatever we are getting are we really getting it? I'm not convinced. If anything this is 100 times worse than getting credit in the old testament. We are relying on things that's out of our control and can't change what's wrong. Everything says over a 52 week average, that maybe and sounds good to the ears but when it gets to my brain it tells me got to get all the credits first and that's not happening and if it is show me the proof! Using the scanner functions doesn't mean what I did will stick or get changed or even be used properly. I haven't seen away to get check and balance. I personally think all this stuff isn't going to amount to anything. I think they will take our hours of work and give that average over a 52 week period. Heck that would make more sence even? Idk I just know rrecs isn't the way to go!

OK, got a good one for you on the unscanned parcels.

Catalogs like U-line, Northern Tool, etc. The fat suckers that come in big bundles. For my case/system, cannot case them.
I take them in separate short trays, but case a marker for them. You better believe I'm scanning every one of them as "unscanned parcel".

Not that I believe USPS will give anywhere near the time it takes to process and deliver them. I'd bet the scanner time is less than 1/4 the amount of time we spend unpacking, sorting, fetching trays, loading, retrieving, and stuffing each of them.

i was wondering if those count as unscanned parcel?

With our case, these type catalogs will not fit. You might get one in, but it would prevent any other flats/mail in that slot, plus the slot to the right of it most likely.
So, I mark and carry them separate.
Same in our area they are 7/8” - 15/16” thick. One in slot and you can maybe fit 1-2 pieces of mail in. Always have carried them on the side. Personally if just 1 at that address I don’t do parcel scan unless clerks threw it in hamper. If 2 or more for an address yep unscannable parcel. Most the businesses that get these have small boxes to start with so I generally use door misc scan and bring mail to them that day.
