2nd trip/late truck question

Here's what happen today in my office.

Obviously we got drop off Saturday of flats and packages. The truck was going to be extremely late today. Management said to run packages off of route.

This had me thinking about this and wonder what is the proper way of doing this.

So example, let's say 123 D St had 3 packages you dropped off during this run. Then when you come back to office after the truck arrives at the office, 123 D St gets another 2 packages when you case and do all of that stuff. I know how RRECS is worked with address of the same, but since you ACTUALLY MADE 2 trips to the door. Do you ACTUALLY enter that on the scanner because I assume there's no way you would get credit for 2 trips in this scenario.

I took 35 packages out and I would say I stopped at 50% to 60% of these houses a 2nd time. Just curious how it works.

I would mark it as trip2door myself, as that's the only way to mark i crossed that distance twice. Mailbox wouldn't matter.

Way i see it, at least my marks are defensible and make sense, whether they are correct is up to some office geeks from both teams to decide if anyone at the geound decides to fight it.

That is what I did. I did mark the trips2door at houses I stopped at twice. But you know all of the great training we had and that I couldn't find answer for this.

There is no way to do something that is wrong (not contractual) correctly.
If you run parcels on your route ( first trip, there is no way to credit a first trip as a second trip the first time out of the office) and come back and run the mail and more parcels, the entire route run after the initial run would be a SECOND TRIP, paying an additional 3 minutes/mile for that 2nd trip. If you had gone to the door on the first trip and then had to go to the door on the 2nd trip again, you would only get credit for one dismount (the largest amount of pay for delivery of a parcel) when you actually made 2 dismounts and 2 trips to the door. At this point of doing something that is against our contract due to a "Mistake" by the Usps of a late truck, the way I would remedy this situation is to enter the entire route as a second trip, any homes where I went to the door twice as miscellaneous trip to door (to gain the additional dismount i was forced to make) and an additional trip to door, to gain the extra footage. If I was questioned about these entries I would explain why I had to make them to get the true credit for what I had done.
No manager would likely accept the entire route run as a 2nd trip without a grievance, but when they make you run parcels 1st, then the route 2nd, THEY are the ones that caused the problem. The correct way for your manager to have remedied this situation is to have paid you waiting time until the truck arrived, which he was obviously trying to get out of by making you take parcels 1st

Everybody just remember RRECS is the pay system.... if you don't enter it you never did it (RRECS PAYS YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO(ENTER).
Any reason you go back to door, found or forgot another package for door and scanner shows you missed one scan and you have to go back and check

I have a similar question. The Amazon truck was almost 3 hours late this morning. All the routes were told we could go so we did. The truck shows up at 11 am and since my route is closest to the office and the heaviest, I am called back to load packages. They were still unloading and sorting when I got back and I asked the PM how do I enter this under RRECS since it's showing me departed to route? He said he had no idea. I should have written down wait time waiting for the packages but how to I record getting them lined up for the route? With the truck being that late, can I refuse to come back and just take them all on a second trip?

magnolia72 -- Next time, do not answer your phone.

-- And if there is a next time: time yourself for whatever you do and log it on the 4240. And make a copy for future reference, as manglement sometimes has trouble finding old 4240s or remembering that they called you back to the office.

One day last week when we had a late truck, he said he would let us know when the truck arrived. I joking said that my phone isn't working. He laughed and said he would come find me and bring me my packages. With my route being so close to the office, making second trips really doesn't pay off. I put in over an hour or more and I'm only getting paid 3 minutes per mile. So in reality, I'm getting paid half of what it takes to do the job. But I guess it's better than getting nothing for going back, picking them up and running over my eval.

You can bring up all the RRECS options by taping the 3 lines at the top right on scanner. Then hit STARTLOADVEH for your extra load event.

Yes, I do that every time I have to reload at the office. I guess my main question is do we HAVE to return for the late packages, especially when our cutoff time is 9:00 or can they not be left for a second run?

as said upthread, do not answer your phone. make them come find you.

and do yourself a favor - get your DR in the loop.

Maybe next time. they should call in some RCAs to run parcels. Sounds screwy. Glad i never had to deal with the RRECS system. Feel bad for yall.

Actually, it should be reported as late in the Amazon FMC as driver failure, reported in DCV as delayed on arrival and logged as Day Zero packages, then held for delivery the next day.

Our office is Amazon late —— Amazon waits

Same here if they show up 1 second after 8 it gets rolled over to next day. We can choose to take what we want when we return for second trip pay. I may or may not make sure I get paid for my time 40+ miles second trips 😂.

We have the same 8 am dead line for amazon. At what point does the 8 am dead line hit?

Does amazon have to be some where in town by 8 am?
Does amazon have to be backed up to the door by 8am?
Do the packages have to be unloaded and in the post office by 8 am?
Do the packages have to be scan in by the clerks by 8 am?

Here they have to be fully unloaded and in the post office by 8 am. Secondly clerks have to have received all pallets by 8 am as well. Meaning sometimes we will have a few pallets left over if they showed up at close to cut off time. Generally if they showed up by 7 am no issues after that time no guarantee everything will be scanned for that day. We are short 4 clerk positions currently, district is fighting tooth and nail to not hire anymore. My management makes the call if Amazon shows up after 7 am. They take the heat from district if there is any to be had. They realize delaying us city and rural carriers only makes their days longer and can lead to overtime, or 2080 issues down the road. It also over works our currently short staffed clerks.

Check your Rrecs info for loading time when you load an additional trip without being in PM casing, you get NOTHING for that loading time. You only receive loading time before you hit depart2route, or after you are in PM casing. Don't take my word for it, look up your loading time yourself.
