As with a paper 3971 you will need a signed “Received by” from your manager/supervisor to prove the day you turned in your leave request. After you have an official signature, they have 3 days to respond to you “disapproved” or it is an approved leave request automatically.
Management will back date these forms (illegally) and say that they disapproved them before the 3 days expired. You have to make sure that they know you must be given the disapproval ( in your hand) before 3 days expires. They can verify this by having you sign “Received by date “ somewhere on the slip. Without that they have no proof they returned it to you before 3 days expired.
Please point out to your managers that falsifying this document is punishable by 5 years in prison or $10,000 fine, which is written at the bottom of every 3971.

There is no need to have a signed 3971 to prove the receiving date when using the ERLA through liteblue. All you need to do is save or print the confirmation page it will have the date and time you submitted it. they receive a copy in their email. Anything submitted before 5:00pm (close of business) is considered received that day.

No… and it is NOT your responsibility to inform management that you’ve filed online. Just print out copy of confirmation number. If they say it wasn’t submitted, They can input that number and it will show info.
