5 reasons rcas are blowing off sunday/holiday Amazon....Mutiny?

Our district is having a brutal time trying to get peeps to work Amazon Sunday/Holidays. A district-wide list was created but is being largely ignored by most rcas. Management is having coniption fits over it. Here a 5 common reasons given:
1) it's Sunday, we go to church services and get together with family. I refuse to deliver tp on Sunday.
2) it's Sunday/Holidays, I refuse to deliver tp for low dough on Sunday/Holidays . Give me time and a half, we'll talk
3) it's Sunday/Holidays, I've worked the last 6 days in a row, I refuse to deliver tp for the 7th day. I need rest, it's in the bible
4) it's Sunday/Holidays, I've got 3 kids and all their activities are on sundays and holidays. I refuse to deliver tp and miss their activities. Tell the customers to use newspaper.
5) it's Sunday/Holidays, when I was hired there was no Sunday/Holidays delivery. I'm not about to start delivering tp on my days off
6) bonus it's Sunday/Holidays, I'm not about to drive 40 miles round trip to a town I don't know to deliver tp to another town I don't know for chump
Change

The rca situation is grim in our district. Management can't fire them. That's akin to cutting your nose off to spite your face. At the moment, management has no answers.
What are your hubs like? Do you even have hubs?

For a time I traveled 35 miles to work Sunday Amazon, the management was kind enough.....it was tough, everything was hurry, hurry , hurry, so we can go home early.. there was no contact # for the regular to ask questions so I could do things right. ( That I what I am used to doing, things right). It was like, ok you didn't delivery it. Be back by 4 and scan it no acces, animal interference, gas up the LLV and hurry in crazy traffic, just hurry so we can pay out less hours...…….one day of extreme stress for $150 Hail No !!!

2) it's Sunday/Holidays, I refuse to deliver tp for low dough on Sunday/Holidays . Give me time and a half, we'll talk

This is the ONLY job I have EVER had that don’t pay DOUBLE time for Sunday’s and holidays...... most all jobs I’ve ever had paid 1 1/2 after 8 hours, 1 1/2 on Saturday’s. DOUBLE time Sundays, and DOUBLE time PLUS holiday pay on holiday (equaling TRIPPLE TIME on holidays).......
I’ve had many professions throughout my life..... many factory jobs, several warehouse jobs. ASE certified auto mechanic. They all payed double time Sunday’s, Double time plus holiday pay on holidays...... I worked any and every Sunday I could in those jobs, and when family events wasn’t going on, I worked any holiday I could......

I’ll NEVER work a Sunday for time and a half..... I’ll NEVER work a holiday for time and a half.....
Time and a half is for over 8 hours (or over 40 is some companies)......
Sunday’s is for GOD (if your religious) and holidays is for family. I’m sorry, but the post office is NEITHER of those.....

I've never had a job before this one (even retail and fast food) that didn't give you extra pay for working Sundays and Holidays. Generally the Sunday premium was small (like $1 an hour extra) but holidays were always time and a half.

When I was a semi truck driver I would get a $250-500 bonus for volunteering to work major holidays like Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas etc.

It's not surprising that RCA's are unwilling to work. My office only does it during the holidays and I hate it. I work 7 days a week from Thanksgiving to Christmas because of it. If I had to do that all year I would probably quit.

Ours are mandated to limit to 6 days on, one off in any seven day period. There is more work than people. Our in office relief rarely work Sunday and our Sunday/holiday amazon gets carried by volun-tolds out of our finance authority.

It’s SNAFU
And why are your in office reliefs off the hook for delivering YOUR offices Amazon on Sunday/Holiday? This is one of the main reasons why the RCAs in the out lying i.e. out of the finance authority offices are quitting. Who needs this extra BS day of work in a town on routes you don't know? So now that the RCAs from the finance authority offices are gone who's going to deliver Amazon on Sunday?????

Grim, indeed.

I worked 38 straight days las Christmas. Never again.

Congratulations to the Rca 's in your area. They have found a way to force the USPS to see the errors of their ways. I suggest all Rca's avoid signing up on the "volunteer list " this October and cause more problems for USPS managers. They will have to try to find volunteers from their district. There maybe some that will do it, but they will have to be paid mileage to get there, another Sunday expense that will cause them to go farther in the "hole".

What volunteer list? No such thing anymore - and if there is in some places, it doesn't apply to new hires of the last year.

Every hub I've been to RCAs/CCAs just get scheduled. The RCA application I applied to on usps said Sundays are a Requirement - Didn't find out until orientation that RCAs get nothing in benefits where a poster was on the wall that had 3 columns MH/PSE - CCA - RCA -first 2 had benefits listed, RCA had nothing under it, a blank square. The person running orientation going over the poster said it makes her sad and embarrassed upon reaching the RCA part. I burst out in laughter (in a "you gotta be kidding me way) at the RCA table because we had just spent an hour with the NRLCA Union rep who was arrogant and spent the whole time telling us we could get bank loans, insurance, and go to parties. I kept tabs of the 7 RCAs at my orientation and Academy - They all bought a PoV for the job BEFORE orientation and have all quit.

I work every Sunday because straight hours is better than no hours.

-- Maybe be you can revisit the orientation room and scotch tape a screw to "benefit" section under RCA's.

-- Apparently Step 4 ( S-106 ) is no longer applicable? in part: Newly hired RCA's will be afforded the opportunity to place their names on the Sunday / Holiday Parcel Delivery Work List as volunteers within sicty ( 60 ) days of hire. If these rural carriers choose not to sign the volunteer list at this time, they will be place on the non-volunteer list. [ to be utilized as "volun-told's" if no others available ]

Every RCA is currently a volun-told. No volunteers here.
