A few questions

I will be going out for 2 weeks while I get my trigger finger fixed. My RCA health insurance is payroll deduction. Since I won't be getting paid, how will my insurance get paid? Will they send me a bill? Will they add the unpaid balance when I get back and get my first check?

I've been thinking about leaving the RCA job and switching to ARC. However, there are only a couple subs for the Hwy Contract routes. I was thinking of pimping myself out to the HCR side whenever someone needs a sub. I'm not obligated to do so like a RCA and there is not splitting/helping other routes when I'm done. I would have to provide my own health insurance though. Once girl gets almost $20 per hour and is paid for 8 hours. Shes usually done in 6.

Most of our regulars 120 day letters for subs will end in the next 2 weeks or so. What is the "official contract" remedy for an office that has been unable to hire anyone and have many 120 day letters that have ended? If the answer is "going formula" and making PTF's, the regulars are already fighting that. They do not want to give up their saturdays off and their 2 X days if forced to work saturday.

I've been really pissy the last few weeks. I'm hoping the 2 weeks off from the surgery will brighten my mood. If not, I'm gonna have to make a move unless we magically hire several people or they offer me a PTF position.

As to the 120 and not a contract thing. A local mailing done by management and Association to find coverage for all offices involved if applicable after 120 before the possibility of FORMULA. Not knowing your office situation but some of these REGS fighting for this PTF, might lose their Saturday off based on seniority.

If the regulars whose letters expired without hires do not grieve that failure, then basically "nothin' to see here, move along..." Grieving the failure to hire in the time period allotted is what forces mgmt. to create a PTF position. No further action by the carriers, back to square one and another at least 4 months of no new subs.

May I suggest hounding your PM for the date of an active RCA job posting and then sharing the hell out of it online--troll for whatever you can attract to the hiring labyrinth! Neighborhood websites, craigslist announcements, whatever facebook pages you visit...granted, it's doing mgmt.'s work for them, but if you want subs you care a lot more than mgmt. does about seeing one get through the hiring process! Sell it!!!!

I'm not sure if it works differently for the RCA insurance. But as a regular, I am currently out on medical myself. I've been out since November, I haven't had a paycheck since 1st check of December. My dental and vision have been billed to me for my portion of the premium. My medical, I was told, is billed out at quarterly periods. I've not received a bill yet. I spoke with BCBS last week and was told they don't send the bill. The premium is paid up front by USPS. So I'm assuming USPS will work out the details with you.

It is possible to have a ptf position created and no formula "inflicted" on the office. If any carriers are willing to have Monday off then a ptf could work Saturday and Monday and any other days through the week that came up for carriers not having a sub. A PTF can be created with only 2 on their string.

Mondays off are great when caring for yourself or family member with on-going medical issues. A day during the week is great for stacking doctors appointments. (Maybe some in the office would be interested)
